A bit of both .

It's currently in street mode because I'm too lazy to clean it after running muddy fields, but in Summer it will return back to it's true lawn shredding purpose .

I gotta say that is crazy fast for driving on grass. I could only imagine if you accdently hit a gopher hole or a hidden ant pile or even an exposed tree root.

Yeah, going WOT is not very easy off-road with >70 mph gearing... I want to see what it can do on street now a bit with some tall gearing, but for Summer I think it'll get its Badland shoes back again and I'll gear back down to 70-ish mph.

Time has gotten a bit scarcer lately, so making only little steps at a time, but at least it's driveable again .

Shimming up new Losi motor mount with cosmic grade aluminIum to reduce play between parts.

Shaping TBR bumper into front wing mount.

Motor mounted up with 27/35 gearing (146 kph, 91 mph no-load).

Next to project X.

Just testing, would fit.

Bang good!

Decisions, decisions...

Arrma Typhon buggy wings; don't worry..., both still need to be cut into desired shape.

I am sure you mentioned it earlier, but I can't find it anymore. What did you use for the paint? Gun-metal and black? Did you mix them, then used an airpaint gun? Great MoDs BTW! Thanks!

Thanks! I have no special painting skills whatsoever (I actually suck at it pretty badly) . Paint is simply Tamiya PS-5 Black on the inside and Tamiya PS-55 flat clear on the outside (~3 layers I think).

Cool thing of the PS-55 is that it's really easy to touch-up the paint if you flip or scratch it. E.g., this pic:

is taken after this happened:

Apart from a heat blister in the lexan produced by sliding belly-up over the street at high speed, the scratches were easy to get rid of with some sand-paper and a few new layers of the PS-55.

Ahh! Thanks a lot. I seen the belly-up pic before...now it all makes sense. I am going to look into the PS-55. The PS-5 by itself, is a bit too shiny for some applications, that's why I thought of the gun-metal. Thanks, your design inspires.

Love the truggy. I gotta say though, how the PS-55 helped "save" the body is almost as amazing. Think I'm going to have to try the stuff on my next body.

^ Thanks!

Nice weather today, so time to finally test the new set-up. Gearing was 27/35, for a no-load wheel-speed of 146 kph (91 mph). Was a quicky, so no videos yet unfortunately... only had time for one pack. I didn't drive it in a long time and space was a bit limited, so I only dared to bring it up to a GPS recorded 109 kph (68 mph), which it would do within 3 seconds and within a distance of 50 m from standstill. Was fun to be out with it again . To record a good top-speed with the 1 Hz GPS logger I need some more space and confidence. Might try to find a cheap Eagle-tree GPS sensor, as those log with 10 Hz.

I changed too much at the same time (diff fluids, shock oil, spring rate and tires), to be able to pin-point what did what, but I really like how it drives now, seems "sharper" and more controllable than before. Front wing is not finished yet, but at the speeds I did today, the front did not seem to lift.

The 1/5 TC GRP tires are a huge step up from the normal 1/8 truck tires, a lot of grip and car can accelerate quite quick now, found some pieces in the logs the car went from 25kph to 84kph in 1 second. That's an acceleration of 16 m/s^2, ~1.6 g, so 1.6 times faster than Mother Earth would accelerate it if being dropped from the rooftop . That comes with a lot of violence though, I was really impressed to see and hear the car working that hard, and the datalogs do scare me a bit - biggest recorded peak was 336 A, which made the 5Ah 60C Turnigy HD battery drop to 3.28 V/Cell. You can see in the logs it takes the batteriy about 7 seconds to recuperate from such a hit...

I think I need a white wing now too .
Do those tires need adapters? Where can i find them... 17mm.
Saw the squares..must be the adapters...just wondering what all they will fit.

Yeah, see post 8 for details and how to get it to work: http://www.rctech.net/forum/13754140-post8.html. Only requires small mod and is definitely worth it for speeding.
