Default CEN Genesis or Colossus

So I have been looking at getting a CEN Genesis for some time, but I am wondering if there is any difference with the Colossus. The reason that I am asking for people's opinion is because there is an auction for a used Genesis that I was interested in bidding on. And of course with the Colossus I would have to purchase it new.

The parts are similar between both trucks. I don't know what most people here will tell you about the truck but what I can tell you is that parts support is bad. Local shops usually don't carry the parts. You will have to buy parts from Ebay and places like Dollarhobbyz. Going thru CEN is a joke and you will wait for parts for weeks. The Genesis has the older parts in it. The newer colossus has beefed up parts. I have a friend of mine that runs a Nemesis which is basically the same truck as the Genesis and Colossus and he and I spend more time fixing the truck rather than driving. I know it looks cool because its a big truck but the rear left upper arm always breaks even with the newer Colossus parts. The engine takes tuning but once its running it works great. If I were you and have money to buy a newer Colossus truck I would go buy either a Losi XXL or a Savage XL. They are way better trucks and their parts you can source locally. Just my 2 cents.

This is from another post I made a few weeks ago about this truck....

The Colossus is a huge step up from the Genesis in terms of the quality of the plastics. They are identical trucks, but the Colossus is much tougher. Pretty much everything is interchangeable between the two trucks. There are quite a few threads that go into more detail, but most are on another forum.

RC Car Action did a monster truck shootout a few months ago and the Colossus did an excellent job. It is truly a powerhouse. The only real complaint that I hear is that the suspension is extremely stiff, even after a fluid and spring change (there are very few springs available for this truck). One person in particular removed a shock from each wheel, leaving just four instead of eight. With new fluid, springs, and shocks removed, the truck handled and jumped great.

One thing that is surprising is just how balanced the truck is. You would think with such a high center of gravity that this thing would roll over at the slightest bump in steering, but that is not the case. The truck is extremely stable.

Personally, I love CEN as a company. They have always treated me very well. As previously stated, everything you could possibly need is on ebay, so parts support is a non-issue for me.

There are plenty of other trucks on the market, but none are nearly as cool as the Genesis.

I've got a RTR Colossus I bought spur of the moment a few months ago. I've beat the body to heck from wheelies and flips on the street but the chassis has been pretty darn solid. A little trouble with steering links popping off but that's about it.

I can't compare it to the Genesis since I've never even seen one. The biggest complaint I have is the chrome flaking off the wheels pretty badly.

Thanks for the inputs. Looks like I will skip the genesis and just go for the colossus

I had a running gst 7.7 It was the wow factor that drew me in. That truck has an awesome factor thats beyond anything else ive looked at. After owning one i can honestly say id never BUY another one. I have almost a roller sitting in the basement that i do plan on building shortly. That being said, lose the CEN motor. Its a terrible pos. Its powerful and revs good but its unreliable and finding parts is next to impossible. I did some research a while back and found that the OS Hper 55 is a drop in replacent. It probably wont get the revs that the 7.7 gets but it should be more torquey.

Cen also has a brushless conversion and makes an electric rtr GTS-E. I also found an auction on ebay from texas for a red chassis genesis that already has the rear steering upgrade....not a bad deal either butneeds a servo and a motor.
