Default Need Help. Looking for 17mm 1/5 scale wheels

Want to mount HPI 5b front buggy tires to 17mm hubs on my E-Maxx. They are UE axles. Does anyone make a 17mm rim that will fit 1/5 scale tires?

i ant think of any 1/5 scale stuff thats 17mm, however hpi makes a set of 24mm hubs to fit a savage. maybe you can make those work on an emaxx.

They will not work with the axles I have. I am debating on 1/5 over regular 3.8 proline trenchers. I think the trenchers would be lighter! I have a big set of wheels and tires that look great on the truck now but they are just too heavy. The truck is extremely fast and I think the weight of the wheels just numbs the handling. The trenchers are only about a 1/4 smaller in height and look like they offer good grip... I hate browsing ebay

1/5 wheels are definitely heavier than any 1/8 wheel out there. And nope, there's no 17mm 1/5 wheel out there that I know of, it's all 24mm, the FG square drive and I believe the RedCat X series is 22mm.

I run 40 series Trenchers (6.89" diameter) and I love them, great all around tire IMO. Just be careful, there's the Trencher 40 series like mine and there's the Trencher X which is slightly shorter and with the Traxxas bead. Adding to the confusion is the labeling on the packages, "Trencher 3.8 (40 series)" and then "Trencher X 3.8". Very easy to get the wrong one if you're not paying attention.

Running RC4wd MT Bajas now, 7.09" and 3.81" wide. I am definitely going to keep these things though, they just look awesome

Still looking for a good rim to run. I really dont want a black rim but Im not sure what works and what doesnt. Standard offset.

According to speed calculator, my truck is geard to do just over 50mph with tires those size. Will I need to tape the insides of the regular Trenchers? I didnt tape my Bajas at all but I think they are a little bit harder of a tire, they dont balloon.

Looks like the Tech 5s are it, maybe I can color them with a sharpie or something I have colored a few random things with a silver sharpie and it seems to stick pretty well but I havent tested it on wheels yet.

Really enjoy the cen genesis wheels and tires with the foam pulled. Rc4wd's mentioned are sexy as well, very very burly looking in person. Lastly integy makes some monster tires that hole up ok, I have a set on some broken wheels of u want em. Pm for price if so, 7 inches tall, fit on 40 series wheels, so you could use 17mm hex

Cen's are the winner in my book. Huge, long lasting, easy hub adapter for 23mm on most trucks

On most trucks it is easy to get a 23mm adapter on the axle. The OP has UE axles though and it's not so easy. UE axles have a hex of their own that the adapter fits over, so there's no drive pins but you're stuck with the stock 14mm or the kinda rare 17mm hexes. I'm not 100% sure but Dace may have made a 23mm adapter that fits UE axles.

As much as I do not endorse the product...there's your answer. The uni fit 23mm adapters will work, I own them and all is well. Otherwise, there are a bunch of 23mm adapters that should work just fine for you within their line up.

Again....don't buy intejunk...unless you have to...lol

Still on the fence about what to do. I think these would look good on the truck.

They'll look good but are going to surprise you by how narrow they are...it'll look like a tractor; huge, skinny wheels.

Please do prove me wrong, I've been eyeing 1/5 wheels for some time. Someone else n here did it and I saw pictures, it was "ok"

Friendly advice trying to save you the cost....nothing rude meant
