Default Wheel & Tire reccomendation - Brushless Savage

Hi,
Recently I've gotten back into the hobby by converting my old S-25 savage to brushless. But being the truck is so old the tires are pretty rotted out.

So I was hoping for some suggestions on wheels and tires for a backyard basher??

Thanks!!

I'm running E-Revo tires on my BL maxx, gemini 5 spoke rims w/ talon tires. Good all around tire and not overly aggressive traction.

Thanks...those are 14MM hex wheels right?

I need to see if I can figure out what hex size the original savage ran...

You can get those in 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm. I have 17mm hubs on my maxx.

Pretty sure all Savage trucks came with 17mm. I'd look into Proline Trencher 40 series tires. They're a great all around tire that's similar in size to your Moabs and will fit your current wheels.

i have 4 savages sitting here and they all have 17mm hex from stock, 1 looks about 10 yrs old as well..... i myself just went through a tire swap with a summit, take my advise and dont go too big your drivetrain will hate you for it.

we took 3.8 trenchers off the summit and put 3.8 maxx tires on, huge traction difference but the trenchers are twice the size of the maxx tires... i would recomend the maxx tires for the savage anyday and in my opinion would have lots of traction for a backyard basher, they also wont break the bank.

you are going to need 17mm hexes or bigger with a flux conversion. my nitro truck strips 14mm hexes.

ive been looking at the new proline shockwave tires lately. fairly light tire, should be easy on the drivetrain.

the old savage x trucks came with both, the 17mm were installed from factory and the 14mm were included.

Additional Savage X Features:

17 mm metal alloy hex hubs on wheels along with extra set of 14 mm hex hubs

Well I wanted to downsize from the moab's...closer to orginal size. The power and torque of the motor just chews up the dogbones with those big heavy moabs on there. Until I upgrade to the super heavy duty dogbones and cups I wanted to reduce the weight.

for some reason I'm thinking my hexes are 14mm...guess I'll just pull a tire and measure.

the good thing is that the maxx tires come premounted on 17mm and 14mm rims, the maxx tires also have a nice agressive look to them, i might actually mount a set up on a savage and see what it can do.

so dumb question. when measuring wheel hexes...do you measure across from point to point, or flat to flat....because flat to flat is 14MM...point to point looks like 17MM

The Moabs aren't lightweight race tires but they aren't too heavy. Your beadlock wheels on the other hand are very heavy because of all the screws in them. I forgot to mention those wheels only came in 23mm hex.
