under geared or over geared question savage flux xl help
Hey guys i just put in a 1717(1650kv) motor in my savage flux to get rid of heat problems but my esc still seems to get hot (140-145 degrees) my motor runs cool also i read some things and this happends because im over geared but id think so because the gearing i have gets me up to (45-50mph) i think im under geared. Let me know what u thinks plzz. Also with the 1717 i heard u can gear it pretty high with no heat problems

But how is it possible that im over geared its a 1717 i shoud be able to gear it up higher with out heat issues. Also if it is over geared that means i have to gear it down some and go slower

you are UNDERGEARED.. overgeared your motor would be hot..or if your seriously overgeared both...

19/44 and 13/50 seem popular on 6s on a flux with the 1717

I was running 20-44 i was going to switch it to 17 or 18 - 44 with 39t high speed idler which would get me to 55-58mph also i didnt like 20-44
