Also an updates for all of those wondering about the aluminum knuckles. I went to install them and found that the stock. Bearings fit fine but there seems to be a little variation in the depths of the bearing recesses. A couple of the knuckles fit up pretty good while the other two have some slope in them when assembled with the hexes. I am wondering if this is the reason for some having issues with bearing failures. With that being said I have ordered a bunch of 6mm shims to get them shimmed perfect in the hopes that the bearings will last ok. On another topic I am find some issues with factory assembly as I tear the truck down for upgrades. Alas I was preparing for my castle 2200 motor install I noticed the the motor mount plate on the tranny was loose because the screws that hold it to the tranny were not fully tightened. No biggie except complete removal of other tranny was necessary to get to the three screws holding the plate on. No biggie since it gave me an excuse to open the tranny and remove the grease from the diff and add some 50000 weight oil. One thing I will say about the tranny is holy crap those are some heavy duty metal gears. Should be no issues with this monster of a gear box. Other than that I am enjoying the modular nature of the trucks assembly especially the electronics tray. Although I am leaving very little of my truck stock, I can say without a doubt that this is going to be a great truck and should be one of my favorites and this is coming from someone who's has owned them all.

dominator79, you say red and copper springs.
Can you give me some part numbers so I can give to my hobby shop guy?
I take it, 4 shocks with red and 4 shocks with copper springs?
Here are the shock caps, part number 25404?.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Here are the monster truck spring colors and spring rates.
25062 BLUE, SOFT 4.40, is what we have stock on the Rival.
25063 GOLD, MEDIUM 5.10
25064 RED, FIRM 5.95
25065 COPPER, EX FIRM 6.90

Mark
Yes I am going with the 25064 and 25065 springs 4 of each one red and one copper per corner. Shims from McMaster Carr should be in early this week along with new springs and 45 wt shock fluid. Should be ready to complete my build next week hopefully. Final build will be as follows.

Rival
Mamba Monster 2 ESC
Castle 2200kV Motor
Hitec 7950 Servo
Factory Team Steering Rack
Factory Team Shock Caps
Factory Team Shock Bodies
Shimmed GPM Aluminum Knuckles
One Red Spring per wheel
One Cooper Spring per wheel
Proline Trencher X's on Desperado Wheels
50K Oil in Center Diff
Stock Grease in front and rear diff for now (because I am to lazy to disassemble)
Stock 15t pinion for now
Stock spur gear

Pics up once I get it finished.

dominator79, I never saw your post be for I posted.
I am jealous )))))))))))))))))

Drove the Rival today, for about 15 minutes, still
on the original battery charge from a week ago and 2 sessions.
A motorcyclist stops in front of my house, while we were on
the street with the truck, he asked what town he was in,
I ended up running into his rear tire.
We all three got a good laugh

Ordered 8 blue aluminum shock caps.
4 red springs=firm
4 gold springs=medium

Can't change the hexes back to 14 mm without all new new axles for the end of the CVDs. 14mm trucks used ends that we're 6mm with a threaded end. The new CVD's are 6mm the whole length with a set screw that holds the hex's CEOs pin

Good call on that. I had forgotten about that issue. I bought a set since they were 50% off.

I miss my old mgt... I run it w/ a novarossi engine (amazing power) before converted it to brushless
the diff hold all this power w/o any breakage

OK peeps, another question.
I am going to buy 2 lipos for my next buggy, a HPI Vorza
the 2s battery backs are 6500/65C.
Could I use them in my Rival also, with out doing damage
to the ESC?
