Well, after a long wait, HPI finally has released some details on their Gasoline-powered Savage:

Default Very interesting

I heard about this truck a looong time ago and tried to follow it but talk of it just kinda dropped off so I figured it would never be released. If I remember correctly they also showed a picture of the engine in a short course truck and a buggy. It was actually going to be my next RC purchase when it was first spoke of. But now it really depends on the price as I have purchased about five new vehicles since then and a sixth one to be shipped tomorrow but the concept is still very interesting.

I probably won't get too excited until they get out on the market and have some time to work out the bugs. Great concept and I hope gasoline engines become a viable option for smaller scales. Kudos to HPI for even taking the plunge!!

Default Finally!

I was really excited about this, what, 2 years ago? I haven't been on the HPI site in forever and I just ran across this there too. I will buy this, unless I get as King Motor first. Depends on when it comes out.

I don't think I have room in my garage but I am interested. I'd like to see what kind of power the gasser can put out compared to just the F4.1 in my Savage X. I wouldn't expect it to keep up with my O.S. .30 in my Savage 25.

I do have most of a Savage laying around with just stock parts, maybe when HPI sells all the drivetrain components (maybe in a conversion kit?) I can build my own gasser.

Still not a lot of info.

Edit: Also, that ducted fan, is that an electric fan sitting right on top of the tranny? That's interesting I wonder how much it really needs that.

I'm excited for it. It was announced a year ago. I'm assuming they ran into problems trying to bring this to market. Here's to hoping they worked through them. As long as the price bridges the gap between 1/8 nitro and 1/5 gas I'll be getting one. I've never been a nitro fan and my Flux was just rebuilt. I welcome all new cars/trucks to the market. The naysayers always kill me.

I could never give up my nitros, no matter how hard I try. They are too good to me.

Me neither.. Gonna' take a while til these things are refined, cheap, and fast enough to bother with I bet..

Maybe I'm wrong though.. Maybe it'll be reliable and fast as hell and affordable right from the get-go......

Has anyone noticed the sudden size increase of the engine? First it was a .38 size engine and now it's a 15.0? A little sudden if you ask me...
