hey guys i'm looking for a transmission for my emaxx 3903, can i buy one of these as a whole or would i have to buy each individual part ?

I would drop a 3908 transmission in it if you have the 2200kv setup.

Glad you say that, did some more research and found out that I could use the 3908, so got that one ordered now. As far as drive shafts and all that should i upgrade anything else ? She has steel driveshafts now. But anything else ?

Not that I know of. So far the diffs on my 3908 have been holding together. I would probably spend the extra money on a high quality servo and maybe add a washer or two to the servo saver to stiffen it up a bit. I decided to run 2 servos and added another servo saver to the driver side of the truck, it really helped tighten up the steering.
I guess the only other major weak point would be the bulkheads. You may want to grab some aluminum bulks if you have the cash.

Those will not be enough. The stock E-Maxx comes with two 2075 and they are satisfactory, at best.
Look at the steering setup on your truck and look at mine. It requires a little bit of cutting/grinding but not much, it was pretty simple. One cut and a little grinding and it went together on the first try.
For the servos, I would recommend some servos with a little more torque. Ones with 150oz each at least.

I dont know if your esc has a programmable BEC but these would be decent at 6v. Plenty of torque and speed. I realize that you can run one ultra high torque servo for the price of two of these so it really depends on what you want to do. I went with the dual servos because I already had one that by itself wasnt enough to do the job but two of them was over kill and thats the way I like it.
If you run two servos, you need to set them up so that they are not fighting each other trying to center or you will burn them out.

What esc do you have?
I dont know what kind of budget you have to work with either, you may want some slightly higher torque servos. I run Airtronics 94773, I dont know if they are in production anymore.

i have the mamba 2200kv motor and that esc that comes with it. Also what will i need to set up the steering ? Not sure what the parts are called but the steering "arms or rods" and all that.

For the steering, I would buy another whole "servo saver" assembly for the 3908 and you are going to need a "heavy duty" Y-harness for your servos, unless you are running the traxxas transmitter and receiver. You will also need a set of "servo horns" for the airtronics servos.
For that ESC you will need the castle link cable so you can plug it into your computer and adjust the settings. Youll want to set the BEC setting to 6v.
