T maxx 4907

I have a 4907 chassis and all it needs is a trans motor and axles. I was wondering which directionn to go motor wise. I've read about a few motors and grown fond of the os brand but money is a lil tight. I can find a 3.3 for cheap on ebay just dnt know which way to go. Any suggestions would help tons. I'm open minded xcept for v.w's lol

Ebay is ok and I have purchased a lot of items there but I recently took my old revo engine to my local hobby shop and did the traxxas trade in. It was 121.00 after tax. I went home with it in hand. Much less hassle than bidding.
Anyway, I've been very pleased with the new engine. I bought my revo off ebay trying to save a buck and have practically rebuilt the truck...lol.
Just my $.02

Thanx for the encite Graveyard. Is it easily tuned n does it hold it or do u constantly have to mess with it? Depending on the part ebay is easier for me price wise because the closest shop with trx parts is about a 1.5hr drive away n with tolls n gas getting it shipped sometimes cost less.

Yes, actually it does hold a tune. I started this hobby back in the winter and that was awful. Now with spring here, it's much easier. Hardly ever have to fool with it.
Yeah, an hour and a half is too far to drive

I have the dynamite traxxas replacement (.19T) and it's not a bad engine for the price (right around $100). I would recommend it without hesitation.

Built one for the son in law with a 3.3 and its been great. We have about 2 gallons through it so far and I'm ashamed to say I spend more time tuning my savage. All we did was put a pullstart on it after the one way quit in the cheesy start. Now its a 1 pull wonder.

I've heard about the dynamite motors n heard they are pretty good motors. Are they faster than the 3.3 or atleast keep up with the right gearing? What would be a good gearing set for either motor?

hotrod87 04-27-2012 06:37 AM

I would personally run a 3.3 with 18/72 gearing.

I think the 3.3 is just a bit quicker, I used the stock gearing. I'm sure if you adjusted it that it would keep up with the 3.3, if not surpass it.

I also find the .19T is easier to tune, I have to mess with it less, and it runs a bit cooler.

Just a thought.
An OS .18 cvr can be had for $125- from towerhobbies.com with super saver coupon code and $99 free ship code.

I receintly bought one but also had the .15 header and clutch adapter laying around.

TrxHollow13 05-02-2012 07:50 AM

Thanks for the idea DG40. I originally wanted a os motor but every where I looked they were pretty pricey. I've seen Os motors decimate 3.3s with the right gearing. I'm going to look into the os motor plus I heard there easy to tune

How about a Fantom FR18??
