Default New tires = new gears???

Putting new proline trenchers on the emaxx.

I know I need new hubs as the originals are 14mm and the prolines are 17mm.

I ordered the hub conversion kit so all should be good at the wheel.

I think the prolines are a bit of a taller tire with theoretically more top speed and slower acceleration. Will I need to regear?

If a regear is in order then what gear??

If you put on taller tires, you -should- regear to compensate for it.

Typically this just involves a change of the pinion gear (the one on the motor.)

What tires are you running now?

what motor/battery/esc setup are you running?

If you are running the factory brushed setup, I'd probably go down a tooth from whatever it came with. If your running brushless, I think you'll be alright.

3.8" Stock wheels?

Ah, ok. Maxx Chevron's.

Those are 5.75" tall wheels.

Trenchers are 6.89".

You'll want to gear down, if you want to keep your performance the same.

I run 19/65 on 6.5" Trencher-X's. It gives about a 1.14:1 rollout, on 5S LiPo.

Stock E-Maxx is 17/68, which could possibly give you the right gearing depending on your setup. Do you have the Brushless E-Maxx, or the Twin-Titan 16.8v E-Maxx?

Running twin Titan motors with nimh batteries. Basically stock setup.

A spare gear came with the truck I have to see if it is larger, if so then I will swap it in.

Yes tires are chevron in pattern.

I think traxxas and brushless emaxx have tires 6.3 inches tall.

I may consider the trencher x instead.

The stock 17/68 gearing of the Brushed Twin Titan E-Maxx (Check your gears to make sure, but this is what I've been able to find) gets around a 0.87:1 Rollout. (22,000 RPM @ 7.2v = ~3055kv)

To pull this off with Trenchers, you'd need a 14t (0.85:1) or 15t (0.92:1) pinion gear.

Thanks for confirming it after a good bit of research and head scratching I also came up with the 14 or 15 tooth pinion gear. I will order those and give the motors a cleaning when I get the tires.
