Loosen and back the motor/pinion away from the spur, tighten it back down, put battery power directly on the motor wires. If the motor works it's not the motor obviously. That simple.

Did you see and smell smoke at all coming from anywhere?

No, its not that simple. With a brushed motor you can do that. Brushless motors have 3 wires. Cant do that......

Do you know what burnt electronics smell like? If so, smell both of them, if one smells like its burnt, then i would start by testing that one since its more than likely the bad one. If you know someone that has a combo you can plug in to, i would test the one you suspect to be good first on his combo. Normally the speed control give some type of clue in the form of blinking lights to tell you its bad, or something happened to it, or it just doesn't power up.

What motor and speed control?

Ok here is what i know. Its a hobbywing 80 Xerun esc and 2250kv Xerun motor. I can smell burnt but not sure witch one. The esc lights up, does its cell flashes etc, but there is no longer a beeping sound when it does, even though the esc flashes like it is supposed to. The truck still drives, but it doesnt have any power, acts like the battery is dead, and at light throttle it coggs pretty hard. I think its the motor since it no longer beeps at all.

What do you think of the 4074 2000kv tiurnigy motor? Or for a few extra dollars should i just get a tekin?

are u running an electric coversion on it? or is it an electric version? well if you were running a 1/8thy motor from hobbywing then you will need another 1/8th scale motor so a tekin 1/8 from stormer ill be the best choice if you want to go with the tekin
