is a tmaxx 2.5 a good truck?

should i but a tmaxx 2.5 or a hpi nitro mt2
I found a used tmaxx 2.5 and hpi nitro mt2 for sale.
the tmaxx is mostly stock exept for all steel gears, aluminum braces, lexan skids, futaba magnum jr. radio
the hpi is all stock and I can get it for the same price (under $200) as the tmaxx, maybe cheaper.
Whats a better truck? I haven't been into r/c's in a long long time, and i had an electric team losi back then.
thanks

I am in the Electric trucks, but from reading around here the general concensus is the HPI Savage and Traxas Revo, are both supirior trucks to a T-Maxx.
You havn't stated what the HPI model is, so it is hard to give more info than that.

If your new to this hobbie i would suggest buying new if you can afford it, alot of used stuff out there is crap and needs repairs, RED

Both trucks are pretty good, but neither is bulletproof by any means. I'd choose based on what type of truck you want. The T-Maxx is obviously a monster truck, but the HPI Nitro MT2 is a 1/10-scale 4WD stadium truck. As such it's more agile and responsive than a T-Maxx, but it doesn't have the ground clearance and suspension travel of the monster trucks.
If you plan to do a lot of jumping or running on rough ground, I'd get the Maxx. If you will be on pavement, an off-road RC track, or other more smooth surfaces where clearance doesn't matter as much, the Nitro MT2 could very well be more fun to drive.
