Well I have ordered most of the parts for this build but it looks like it may take longer then planned to get it together. I wanted to have it done by the first week of January but some of the parts coming from rcmonster have to be drop shipped from flm and I don't know if it us holiday shipping or what but a lot of the eBay stuff is not coming in as quickly as I thought it would.

I will post pics as soon as some stuff arrives.

I got some parts today, I had a 100 gift card to hobbytown and a 30 dollar coupon so i picked up a few things. I wanted to get all the rpm arms but they only had the fronts so i picked them up along with a couple chrome bumpers, 3.8 trenchers pre mounted to give me some more sidewall compared to the big joes, and a f650 body. will not be staying with that body, i want the silverado four door but just got it because i had the coupon.

Hopefully i will be starting to teaer the truck down next week, just waiting on parts to arrive but i do have a couple tricks up my sleeve that i will show in the mean time.

Parts do look good. You will love the trenchers, I run them on my flm based maxx and they are awesome. I too am following this thread, hoping to start my new flm build this coming week. I'm off all week and have just about all the parts I need to complete it. Shouldn't take me long. I too will have a build thread. Keep the updates coming

Yea you guys néed to go ahead and start a build thread, that is one of my favorite things is watching something come from nothing. It doesn't matter if it has been done hunteds of times before, everyone puts there own little twists on things.

Default Cost?

What's the cost so far?

Also, I agree, a build thread would be nice!

See that your wanting the flm towers. Have you looked at the ue towers? There on sale right now so there a little cheaper than the flm towers. Here's a link, the price includes both towers and hardware http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/10102.html

blazer thanks for the heads up i will be purchasing those. I desiced since everything on the maxx is either polished, black or blue i didnt like the way the motor was colored green. So i decided to go aheand and strip it down and polish it. normally i would take the internals out doing something like this but i am not sure if you can get individual parts for the motor so i kept it together. Here are some pics

this was the first stage of about 7 rounds of sanding

and the final produuct

I work in the automotive paint and body industry so i have lots of materials laying around but basically you can start off with 80 grit to get all the grooves out and the coloring then step down to 180,320,400,600,1000.1500.2500.3000 then polish. you can skip through some like go from 320 to 600 then 600-1500 and 1500-2500 then polish. I used a da sander until i got down to 600 then started wet sanding took me about 30 minutes. next i am going to do my ds105 servo bud do some paint work in the grooves.

Looks like a Castle motor will be a little more of an undertaking seeing that it has the rings all the way around it.

Yea your best bet would to be use wire wheels as fine as you can find. Then com back with a buffing wheel. It will not be easy but can be done.
