Default Why losi requires so much maintanence?

I've heard of people saying that the losi trucks require much more maintanence than other trucks. Why is this the case?

All nitro Monster Trucks require more maintenance than a buggy or truggy, more so if you run them on a track.

My Savage X needs checking after 2 weekends of running on a track, about 3/4 of a gallon of nitro through it.

Front and rear bevel gears and pinion gears check, check the bevel and pinion gears meshing (IMPORTANT! Especially if you run it on a track with constant blipping of the throttle and hard braking) top-up diff fluid etc...

Center gear box (most MTs don't have a center diff), not so much of an issue, but it's good to check on the gears every six months or so, and replace any worn or broken metal or plastic transmission gears inside it.

Do you have to maintain it as much if you just drive it on the grass? I usually only go through about a gallon every summer because I just bash.

It all depends on how you drive it, not so much as what surface. If you are hard on the throttle, it doesn't matter what surface you are on you are gonna put more stress on your parts. Speed runs, donuts, ect . . . in grass can be just as tough on your truck as other surfaces.

It's bull anyway that Losis need more maintenance.. All RC's do.. Of all the RC's I've had though, my first LST2 has by far required the least maintenance. A Savage XSS required by far the most..

lol . . . that's pretty amazing. That's low maintence. Try some fluid, you will notice a big difference. Fluid makes them last longer too as long as its not too high of a viscosity.

yea I would say so. Ill probably go 30k in both the front and rear and use 5k grease on the ring and pinion and the center transmission.

My old lst2 required NO maintenance. It was a tank. I ended up muggifying it and using one of "the dude" one speed hubs and making it a track truck. Was pretty fast and bombproof.

That's how mine is set up. It's sweet for the track but not really a good build for bashing. I agree with the previous post that all truck require maintenance. It's just part of the hobby. You get a 12-15 Lb truck going 35-50 mph and shiz is gonna break.

Yea I hit a tree going about 15 and snapped a shock rod and a-arm, but they were the cheap flimsy original LST ones which are garbage.

Yeah muggifying it does take away some of the bashing ability. Mine was a track monster though. I had a lrp spec 3 .28 in it at the time. It pulled the one speed with no problem.

The only "maintenance" I do to anything is whatever happens when I'm replacing a broken part.

And Maxx's are the king of broken part's in my personal experience lol, so they get the most "maintenance".

The only nitro MT I have left is my Aftershock, and all I do to it is run the engine dry of fuel, and clean the filter whenever it looks dirty lol. I did stick the diff's in my Emaxx about a month ago, and upgraded it with XXL diffs. Then the Aftershock diff blew in like 1 pack, must have known they were in a Maxx now lol.
