Converting Mini MGT to Brushless, What Motor ESC Combo?
I had put my Mini MGT up for sale but got no interest, so instead I am going to keep it and convert it to brushless. I've found some other guys that have done it and it seems straightforward but I need suggestions for a motor and ESC combo. This will just be for bashing and will be my first foray into the brushless world. I am not looking to spend a ton of money either so a budget minded system would be great!

For some real power, real cheap check this out. It may be a bit too much for a 1/10 scale truck, but hey! you can never have enough power! Its cheaper than most combos and has excellent reviews, and is more powerful than others
Some other options may be the castle SCT-3800kv combo($150ish) or MMP/2400KV combo($300ish)

I have this Combo in my brushless Mini MGT and love it. I have a few bigger trucks that use 4 cell lipos, but my goal was to have a monster truck thats a decent size, has good power, good speed, but only run on 2 cell lipo. I think i found the combo. Hobbywing sc8 ESC, or you could go with a hobbyking 120a esc for a cheaper route. For the Motor i went with a HK 3674 2800kv. Right now I have it geared with an 18t pinion and its an absolute beast!! Plenty of torque( Easy wheelies all day) and good top speed, also basically no cogging. Never gotten above warm either.
If you went with the HK 120a ESC and the motor i got, the combo would be around $70 total!! thats crazy cheap!! so if you're on a budget i would recommend it.
I just made the new platform for the esc and receiver so the wires are messy.

Thanks for the replies to both threads Kylar, glad to see there is someone else out there that did this conversion. I'll have to check out the ESC and motor combo you picked out.

No problem any time! If youre trying to keep things affordable its the way to go. Another ESC to consider is the Hobbywing 80a esc
