Default MGT 8.0 os 21VG or axial .32

I have a MGT 8.0 but i dont know what motor between the two would be better for my truck. Has anyone tried any of these motors on there trucks? Mainly want some advice before I put it into my truck.

the Axial will be the better of the 2, But i would personally not touch either. You should be looking into a Picco .28 or Jammin .28 Both will BLOW the doors off either Axial or OSVG.

yes they are a little more expensive but the quality from Axial to Picco/Jammin is NIGHT and day, Axial's are a RTR style motor while the Picco's are more performance orientated.

The Picco is available with a backplate/Pullstart config if needed.

I can Guarantee you the Picco is 10 fold the motor the Axial is from parts quality to overall power. There's a reason No one except Axial and a few misc brands produce anything above a .28

while i agree with above statement as far as the jammin is concerned, the lrp are the axial are both good mt engines. and yes in the past i owned both and the lrp is what i recomend for the money. i have a friend who is still running my lrp.30 and .32.

i knew we were talking about a monster truck not truggy and the mgt is heavier then a truggy i think one of the heaviest MTs out so you woulnt be looking for a race mill you would need very high torque not rpm i would go lrp then axial myself

I used to race an mgt way back in the day. The axial 28 is better and cheeper that the 32. They mach 427 is even better I think. Lrp is good to. I ran all those in mine and did well. Never did the picco, but that is what I would go with now days. Or the losi 454 because you can get them on ebay.

I've got an Axial .32 Spec 1S and while I love this engine in my 1/8 buggy (It'll blow the tires right off the thing) I didn't like it that much in my XXL.

It's a VERY torque-oriented mill. It just lacked the top-end I like to have in my XXL. Honestly for the price, I think the Losi 454 is the perfect bang-for-buck mill for a MT. You can pick one up on ebay for $130, they make good power, good top end, and not too bad on fuel and tune. Just my $0.02

What happened to the original 8.0 engine? A Picco .28 will push the MGT nicely and so will an LRP .30

I'd steer away from that Axial though
