Default Brushless ESC/Motor help needed.......

Well I am starting to convert my Savage X over to brushless.... I will end up getting the HPI conversion kit and am looking at the Hobbywing 150a esc:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezbrescfor18.html

but don't know what motor to get for it? I will start out on NiMh and then Lipo probably (2) 2s 30+c packs. I have been told to look at the Feiago 7xl and 9xl motors but am still too new to brushless to know what to get.

540, 550, 580.....??? What Kv should I be looking for?

Is that a good price on the esc and has anyone had any luck with them?

Thanks in advance!

xl would be best. 3665 or 3674 and anything from 1800kv to 2370kv would be best. 2200-2370 would get you the best speed outta your Nimh or 2 x 2s(4s) pack.

Ive ran the HW motor in my E Revo and Maxx and it was a decent motor for the price. Never a problem. The Tacon would prob. be a much better motor thou.
Tht ESC will never be Restocked. Its been discontinued. Check Kershaw Designs. He has a Leapord Hobby 150A that is this same ESC rebadged for $100. Do not buy his "own brand" KD onesd. They are QUIK 100A ESCs and there known to fail. They can be bought on EBAY as aeolion for $35 and Hobbyking as HK brand and there garbage

Yes, many times. The only negative is that I've never received anything from hong kong in less than 5 weeks.

Default Ive seen these under the name "TORO"

Ive been looking at then for some time. But Turnigy uses Hobbywings EZrun ESCs and there reliable as they come. This looks interesting at $30 less, but the same exact thing
http://www.ehirobo.com/shop/product_...oducts_id=9757
I have a XeRun 80A ESC that I would sell for $65 shipped

why not just pick up a used mamba monster combo. I see mamba monsters on here all the time for $85-$100, and motors for $75-$100. I have a bunch of the hobbywing esc's, and have never had a problem with them, but when your considering buying a $100hw one, I can't see why you wouldn't just buy a used mmm. I wouldn't consider anything less than a 150a xerun, or mmm. I guess you could spend $80 and guinnea pig the toro, but again$20 more and you could have something you know is a good dependable esc. Same deal on motors, you could spend $60 and try one of them tacon's, or you could shop around on here and pic up a castle 2200 that you know would be plenty.
