Default MAMBA XL

I found a pic of a Mamba XL conversion for the baja. Looks like a good setup to chuck in the 1/5 flux?? Atleast it will be 4wd then...

Thats one big looking motor there, 2028 i think

Is that a new motor for the conversion? It's HUGE.

Finally! Well, their have been rumors for a while. My hope is that it will be rated for very high voltage (10s?) and then I will use it in my savage flux on 6s. Hopefully this will = less failure than the MMM?

HOLY ____! This esc/motor combo will be $650 bucks MSRP! Read here or down below:

http://www.bigsquidrc.com/mamba-xl-1...ss-conversion/

"Here’s some BIG news from Castle Creations. Pictured above is their new massive (about 3 pounds!) Mamba XL motor (bottom, obviously) motor. Along with the motor is a whole new beefy Mamba XL ESC that’s built to handle 8S LiPos and all the amp draw that’s going to pass through it. Not only that, Castle is releasing a complete conversion kit with machined metal pieces to make it all fit in your Baja 5B.

This thing is going to be ridiculous. The ESC is actually available now, the motor and conversion kit will be hitting in about 2 weeks. It’s not going to be cheap though. For the motor/ESC combo you’re looking at an MSRP of $650, while the conversion kit is retailing for $150. But that’s not all. There’s promise of a 10S capable version in the pipeline"

My 4S pack is already heavy enough, I just can't even imagine how much three 4S packs will weight when you put them together. That and the weight of the motor on these beast will make this a missile in disquise. Just waiting to see the first YouTube videos as this beast runs over someone.

Lol theres a thought but really, I imagine it will be close to the stock baja 5b weight with gas and an engine.

The few converted Bajas I've seen documented in various forums, the elec is about 25lbs, the gas version is about 35lbs. In spite of the batt weight, its still lighter since you're loosing the engine. Thats still a lot of weight to have moving at 45mph. Course the nitro at 45 is also a lot of mass moving that fast.

I'm planning on converting my 5T since I rarely get to use it (noise, have to take it a long way to find a decent place to run), but I want to wait for the 12S version that Castle says will be behind this one.

I'm in touch with the President of Castle. The 8s and the 12s will be about the same power. Due to numbers of mosfets and a couple other things. stock gearing on 8s or 12s is 50mph, you may get 60 or better with higher gearing ratios.
2 months or so on the conversion kit.looking like January on everything else.

I'm on RCM as well and I follow Castle's thread, I just don't post much over there anymore....

I'm a patient sort too. I was too impatient about the MMM and suffered thru several early versions until they got better. Not of a mind to go thru that again.

We decided to go with a Kershaw conversion kit and Leopard 1000kv motor with the Mamba XL esc. Leopard motors are good no matter what anyone says. The kershaw conversion kit is $129 The esc/motor combo are $419. Right there you have only $550 retail. Plus once the ESC is in after the 16th of December, you should be able to have a total conversion up and running before December is out.
