Anyone tried or have seen this in person? I think this would be an excellent replacement for my Sledge if something was to happen. So hard to find parts anymore for it. I have looked into the truck and it got good reviews but am looking for 1st hand experience. I would upgrade it to the traxxas waterproof setup I'm sure. Thanks

If you are going to upgrade to Velineon then why not just get the Traxxas Stampede? I love my Losi 8 but for a little basher, my week old Stampede has been a blast. Even on just 2s lipo this thing will wheelie throughout the whole charge and with 3s, HOLD ON...
It wouldnt be brushless. I have a couple of Xl-5s and servos in tool box so was just gonna throw those in for the mud I was looking at the Stampede too just seemed like this one had a bit more ground clearance. I would love to see them side by side. I have alot of land thats really rough terrain that the Sledge doesn't like too well and from looking at the pictures of the stampede it looks almost like the Sledge. I could be wrong though. sucks that the nearest hobby shop is about 2hrs away lol. Your stampede pretty tough?

I've rolled it real hard a few times on blacktop (sideways and cartwheels) and wacked in into the occasional curb and nothing's broken yet.
It pulls through thick grass pretty good, but I've yet to take it out on the dirt or jumps. Based on what I've seen so far though it's going to do great. Every Traxxas truck I've owned has been pretty tough.

I have the Highroller. I bought it a couple of months ago, but have nothing to compare it against. From my research, it seems like it's comparable to the Stampede.
So far, I'm enjoying it. One of the complaints is bent rear axles, which I had from minor bashing. Apparently, some of the axles weren't hardened and this was also a problem with the Slider, which uses the same ones. I e-mailed Horizon and they sent new ones. I haven't tried them yet.
I ran into curbs and trees full speed and have yet to break anything. It makes it through tall grass and dirt no problems. So far, it's been a lot of fun for me and my son. For the price, I'd recommend it.
You can get it at ultimate hobbies for $125. Bring the total up to $150 and shipping is free. I added 2 Wolfpack 3000 mAh battery packs @$19.95 each to bring my total to $165 shipped car and 2 packs.
That thing looks fun as hell. Exactly what I'm looking for.
It's just as fun as it looks..
But I do have breakage to report. I let a noob drive mine around my works parking lot yesterday, and told him to try a WOT pass and he proceeded to smack it full speed (about 45 mph) into a curb at a 45 degree angle, breaking a caster block on one side. But it's a $4 part and two screws so no big woop.
If you get the Stampede, get the VXL. You can do three pay on Tower and it's only $90 a payment. They ship upon the first payment, no credit check. You can run your NiMHs in it for now and get some $25 2s lipos from Hobbycity.com when you can afford to. This thing is cool on NiHM and just plain awesome on lipo. 3s lipo is INSANE.
