Just pick the one you like and I hope you already have! Both trucks are very durable and have there different weaknesses! The reason there is not a lot of aftermarket support for the MGT is it doesn't have as many problems as the others do! I would get a truggy instead

All the alum stuff in particular the alum arms. Alum arms are never a good idea.

Appon closer inspection are the blue ones rpm or alum. Alum arms bend and stay bent when you hit something plastic ones spring right back. also alum arms have a nasty tendancy to take things like bulkheads along with them when they go plus they just weigh so much.

no offense intended it is all a learning process and the truck does look really good.

Thumbs up

He also has a coupler on the exhaust where the pipe is made for a gasket (inline exhaust). One can see it next to the missing Ziptie.

No but on a more serious note, Revos are way better, they can actually handle a track and Traxxas put some serious engineering into those shocks so they work like magic, and if you really want to see indestructible just get a revo then you can get a B.B. conversion kit, throw in a .28 with some nice proline LPR tires and go romp it. I take mine out to the beach with sand paddles and just do work in the sand. Revos are the best for sure.

Aluminum is usually not a good idea but in some cases it is not a bad mod. It really depends on the grade of the aluminum. Most rc aluminum parts are made out of 6061 aluminum and bend easily. But 7075 aluminum is much stronger and can withstand some abuse (but more expensive). I have had 6061 aluminum traxxas parts and they bent in no time, but i also have had some 7075 grade aluminum parts on my t-maxx and they have held up great.

For the most part i stick with RPM parts because they are cheap, strong, and light. RPM is a great alternative to aluminum parts.

i love aluminum.. its sweet.. i have probably 500-600 bucks of aluminum on my savage 25 and i've never had a problem. GPM alum arms, bulkhead side plates, shock towers etc. next is an aluminum clutch because apparently the STS .28 doesnt like the stock one.

to the thread starter- go with the savage. they are easy to work on, last monday a friend and i went out to have some fun and we swapped the sts .28 for a friends 4.1 because the clutch was slipping, in like 10 mins.. then i came home and pulled the rear end off the chassis in like 5mins, loosened 3-4 skidplate bolts, took out 2 bolts on the side that hold the rear to chassis and voila its off.. not that hard. the savage is tough. i have a savage 25, friend has a savvy x 4.1, know a guy with an xl, know a guy with a revo, xl, 4.6 and osme other ones. another friend has a MGT 8.0 and he loves it. i love my savage (im looking at it right now haha) and will never sell it for something else.

Agreed some things are better in alum for sure you just have to be carefull on the grade of alum like you said and what parts you replace with alum and the kind of force's they are applied to. Some things are best in alum, some CF, and some plastic.
