Default Buyin a monster truck

I am going to buy a monster truck and have narrowed it down to MGT 8.0, Savage X 4.6, and Losi Aftershock. I have found some used ones in the price range I want to be in and from the pics they look ok. I am going to be pretty rough on the rig, jumping, crashing, flipping, etc cuz so far I suck at driving, I am wondering about which would be better for the long haul, looking for any input as to longevity, maintenance costs, durability, which is faster, easier to modify if needed. Just stuff like that. I have been searching forums and can't find any good comparisons of these 3. Also curious as to the differences between the Savage 21,25, and X, if there are many major differences other than engine size.

Thanks, Uhgg

HPI has been upgrading pieces like diffs, dogbones, brakes as they've gone from 21 to 25 to X 4.6. You can get the better pieces on eBay, but you'd be better off if you bought the X with them already installed.

There is better aftermarket support for hop ups and mods for the Sav than the other 2 you mentioned. I haven't seen too much and don't know much about the other MTs you're thinking about.

Another question, what is the difference between the Losi LST2 and Aftershock? Is one better than the other?

Is there anything bad about the MGT 8.0 that I should know before I buy one? It has upgraded shocks and a nova cooling head. I have pretty much made up my mind that that is the one I want and if I decide I don't like it after I get it I will try and trade it for one of the others. I just really like the big motor in it and the look of it.

Thanks, Uhgg

Not really, its not had a lot of feedback on here though. The only thing I see is there's not a lot of after market support for it or its earlier versions.

I have a LST2 in the for sale section

http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...z-28r-jp3.html

Ive owne the LST2 and a Savage SS. I liked the LST way better then the Savege. Bought the savage and sold it with in a month. I ran with 2 savages 3-speed and all and i always had the upper hand.

Heres a pic when i had both.

I'd go with Aftershock and never look back, overdriverc.com has them for $334.99

The MGT 8.0 is a great truck from what i've heard... I have a MGT 4.60 and it's awesome... i also have 2 Cen Genesis' LE's .... and i'll tell ya.. they take a tremendous amount of beating before they break...
