The only mod necessary for the flux to be totally bulletproof is the alza cd. The stock a arms are tough as they come. No need for rpm. I've heard of tvps bending in I would think extreme cases, but I've never had a problem. It's one of those rc's I would have a tough time getting rid of because it does everything you ask of it and keeps, coming back for more. Yes it's still very relevant. It's full tank on monster truck, not a truggy variant.

I can agree on the stock arms. I have broken some stockers and never broke an RPM arm, BUT with the RPM arms they flex so much that stub axles break, and dogbones bend/break/pop out more frequently when bashing hard.

HPI finally starts to pick back up on parts support, and I miss my chance for the one part I need

Tower had the savage bell crank (HPI85058) back in stock finally, I go back to order it 1 day later; backordered again.

I guess I'll just keep waiting...

^^^ I don't know if HPI is accually distributing parts,, I bought some Savage Flux battery's boxes, and a flux XL body. Those were just parts strippers.

I always have issues with my pinion coming loose, anyone else have that problem? I'm to the point I may drill a hole in the motor shaft to sink the set screw in

You won't be able to drill that hard metal BUT hit it with a dremel and give the set screw a good deep flat to tighten up against.
And add some blue loctite, in case you aren't already doing that.

Default Braking issue on the Flux HP

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with the esc not braking when going from reverse to forward. I have reset it multiple times through castle link and also messed around with the brake settings. It just up and stopped working one day while I was driving it.

Any suggestions?

I'm not 100% sure i understand your question? If your going forward do the brakes work? The esc should have a yellow light on at neutral throttle. Is you throttle trim and subtrim at zero? Only thing i can think of is that the ESC isn't seeing neutral throttle. What do you have your brake % at?

Sometimes the plastic on the lock nut is wore out. I had a real pesky one once and I put to lock nuts on to stop it from backing out.

Not to be a negative Nancy or anything but if any of you have a question regarding HPI's products that is beyond skill level:easy, don't waste 20 minutes of your life like I did today by calling them.

My questions were

1. Which aluminum shock caps fit HPI big bores?
After doing much research online I've come to the conclusion that I'll be looking for the Hellfire aluminum shock caps. Considering they are discontinued though it's kind of difficult to find them. Are there any other options? Vorza flux aluminum caps, d8t caps, etc?

2. Does the newly released flux xl receiver/servo box have the same mounting hole locations as the flux HP and will it fit with or without modification?

Also, some great news I found out on HPI's website, they finally came out with 17mm hub adapters for the Savage Flux!!!!!!!!! Part number 114341. I will definitely be getting some!

Thanks for any help guys!! I look forward to bringing some life back to this thread with you guys as I rebuild two Savages, one stock length and one XL
