Default Savage X...bad fuel?

I got a BNIB Savage X in a trade...and I started break in process and ran all the tanks I needed...followed the manual and all..and when I started to actually drive the truck around the yard and get on it full throttle..it was dead sounding..rpms would not get up..I had fuel siting in my closet for a while..house is well air conditioned and no moisture got in it..for what I could tell..Could it have been bad fuel?...or what could it be..it just sounded dead...
