The stage 2 setup works much better than stock. It lowers the the truck and fixes some geometry problems.

Most of us only run the bent links in the back. It increases ground clearance and helps when pulling the rear up over steep objects. They are not needed for the front and introduce a weak point with the bend in the link.

Hopefully we will have some new links in stock next week that are thicker and solid to increase the durability of this part. We also have some more cool new upgrades for the Scorpion in the next couple of weeks

Well i just finished up my crawler a few days ago, i've only had it out once since the build. With 4ft of snow on the ground rocks are pretty hard to find here. I have 70mm upper links so i had to move the tranny back a little for the servo to clear them and also had to shorten my rear driveshaft. I'm gonna pick up at set of axial heavy duty lockers when they come out and would also like o try a set of badland tires.

It has a Rooster Crawler with a 45t Integy motor
A R2 disconnect tranny with a Hitec 645MG servo running the linkage
Crawler store delrin skid plate
CKRC aluminum servo mount for the tranny
Rockstar body custom painted by me
I made my own stage 2 kit ( why spend $50 when you can piece together your own for less than $30 including all of the links)
Traxxas big bore shocks with Losi white springs on front and Losi yellows on the rear ( the yellows may be soft for the rear i'm still experimenting with them)
20 wt oil all around but may go to 30 when the weather gets warmer
Axial driveshaft rings ( on the tranny end of the shaft only, i wanted to leave a weak link some where)
Axial 30 degree links on the rear
Crawler store delrin boomerang 4 link plate on the rear
Crawler store delrin 4 link servo mount on the front
Crawler store black steering links
Hitec 5955TG running the steering
Losi Rock Claws on stock wheels with Crawler store Bio Hazard rock rings
Proline Badlands on stock axial wheels
M3 mashers on stock wheels
Ace doughnuts memory foams
RCP straight axle conversion and stainless straight axles on the rear
RCP high clearance alum knuckles and clockable c hubs on the front
Freakstuff racing stainless steel lockers
axial heavy duty diff and pinion gears front and rear
Crawler store battery plates on the front axle and a 6 cell split pack
3 channlel FM radio system

Hey guys, I am just curious, I am seriously looking into purchasing a scorpion here in a month or two. I have yet to hear any kinda run time estimates from anybody. Can someone give me an estimate of how long just playin in the rocks you will get outta a 1500 MAH 2/3 A cell pack with the novak rooster rockster and the novak five-five motor?

I just recently added stainless steel lockers on my ax and also picked up some badlands and ace doughnut memory foams. everything seems to work good so far.

Brushless sucks for crawling. I don't know if it will ever work right. You just can't beat the holding power of two brushes being held firm against the comm - its like having a disc brake on the driveline that you can adjust by spring tension, that combined with drag braking in the ESC and the brushed systems just work better. May not always be the case, but it is right now.
I have to disagree here. I have been researching crawlers as I am thinking about buying one this summer. From what I have been reading, the drag brake on a good brushless crawler system, like the Novak Rooster system, is more than adequate to keep a crawler from rolling.

Here is a quote from RCCA magazine in the article about a Wheelie King crawler conversion using the Novak brushless system:

"I couldn't believe how strong the Novak Rooster Crawling Edition speed control's drag brakes are; the truck came to an immediate halt whenever I let off the throttle and returned the trigger to neutral position....The Novak 55 motor has gobs of torque, which gave the truck the ability to pull itself up and over each rock without hesitation."

Well i see your sticking up for brushless motors , i hate to give ya bad news but the Quote that you put up there from George Gonzales is 100%true but he is talking about Novaks brushed system not the brushless goat system. LOL

None of the brushless motors work as well as the Holmes Hobbies Cobalt Pullers motors!

I currently have the rooster crawler and a 45t lathe motor in my comp rig. I am building another comp rig using a RC4WD Diablo chassis and i'm thinking of using a mamba max and a holmes hobby crawlmaster sport outdrive motor , just not sure what kv yet.

I currently use the Mamba Max and a 35t Warrior motor, but the HH Cobalt motors are insane, the Crawlmasters while very nice can't touch the Puller motors.

How do ya like that warrior motor? I was thinking of replacing my 45t with one of those in my current comp rig.

I like the crawl master series because of the size .
