Exclamation RB CONCEPT TM523 -- good bad engine?

i'm looking into saving up for the RB CONCEPT TM523.

i did a TON of upgrades to my revo over the summer,
and ended up getting a picco .26 max to power it.

first engine i had was a total nightmare and ended up having it replaced.
the replacement still leaks, however runs decent.
at least untill the carb sticks at wide open throttle. (both picco 26max)
i've now spent countless hours and way too many glow plugs, fuel, and days
trying to fix this and i've come to the point where i want a different brand.
i never had any of the problems with the trx 3.3 that the picco had.

i havent been able to drive my freaking truck in about 3 months.
i have zero interest in a picco brand engine.

can someone please give me some info on the RB CONCEPT TM523?
does it seem to hold a tune alright? are they notorious for leaking?
is the carb smooth?
anything else about them i should know?

my truck is pretty weighted down, i have no clue on the lb's.
but i've got flextek suspension arms as well as a lot of titanium
parts on the bottom. so i need some power.
i just bash, dont race.

thanks!

The 523 is a beast of a motor. It will power most T-Maxx, Revo trucks with no problems at all. If properly tuned, it is one of the fastest medium blocks on the market. I mentioned in another thread about mine in my Revo. I have no problems with it holding a tune, run time or head temps. It is all about how you are gonna gear it up. You mentioned that you just want to bash with it. Stock gearing or a smaller pinion will (1-2 tooth down) with an aluminum clutch will move a beefy modded Traxxas truck with no problem. There are shims and other parts widely available at many on line and LHS around. Good engine.
