The biggest differences I know of are the narrower suspension arms and the wimpier motor. All that stuff is easily upgradeable though when you can afford it. As long as the truck isnt to beat up I would say go for it.
Just my opinion though.

an inlaw I know has the V1 Tmaxx and he likes it. It has the stock engine as well and it appears to work well for what he does. Just don't have expectations for it to handle like a revo or LST. If you keep that in mind, you probably will be happy with it.

Default .

put a foward only kit in it

the 2.5 maxx is a 1/2 inch wider on both sides
so with a 2.5 you gain 1 inch in width

you can pick up rpm arms cheap enough to make it a 2.5

i had a pile of maxx's and the 15 truck was more fun then the rest for wheelie's
if you put the right engine and clutcj bell on it

RB C12 pullstart with slide carb 16t bell and the stock 72t spur

wheelie's all day in foward and reverse if you keep reverse

i wouldnt sink a pile of money into if you dont plan on keeping it long
