"The" 17MM setup for REVO
A beter way to go than bolt on adaptors is use a 8MM axle and 17MM hub set up like a 1/8 buggy or Truggy uses. Here's how you do it.
On my Revo I got RD racing products aluminum carriers and RD Racing Products 8MM axle kit. The 8MM axle setup comes with 23MM hubs but I wanted to run 17MM Maximizer beadlocks so I got a set of MBX-5 ProSpec 17MM hubs off ebay for about 10 bucks. They use a 3MM cross pin like the RD hubs and have a 8MM inside diamater to fit right over the axle with no modifications. You will have to put about 1.5MM worth of shims between the 17MM hub and the outer bearing of the carrier because the MBX-5 hubs are not as thick as the 23MM RD ones. Other than that it's a simple bolt on setup.
It will also give you the versitility of changing between 17MM and 23MM very quickly if needed. Loosen the setscrew in the center of the axle, slide the cross pin out, pull off the 17MM hub, slide on the 23MM hub, reinstall the crosspin and lock down the set screw, your done.
