Default 3.3 MAJOR issues

I Currently purchased another 3.3 engine and brike it in EXACTLY according to the Traxxas manua, the first 5 tanks went through just like clockwork with the termps staying at or below 220. I then ran the 6th tank through and made very few adjustments to the high speed needle and ran 230-245 and achieved the best noticable performance. Now the fun begins, on a trip to the local track today for a sportsman race the engine began hitting temps in excess of 300, and the slide on the carb began sticking open on the return from on power.I had one of the local track veterans try to help me out but it just left him scratching his head, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

RumRunner: What fuel are you using? The fuel plays a major role in the performance and life of your engine. If you are hitting temps of over 300 deg F, you should richen the HSN. Have you cut open the windshield for more airflow? Also check the aircleaner if it's dirty or not. I hope this helps a little.

Get rid of that stock garbage carb and put one on from an OS 18 TM. The results will impress you. Lower temps, nice idle and consistent performance.

That'd be why the carb is a pos, now wouldn't it??? Try ebay if Tower's pricing is undesirable...

Carb sticking open? Is it a carb issue or a servo issue?

I'm no 3.3 expert...but guys around here have their 3.3's well into the 300's. 325-350 is not uncommon here. 3300ft above sea level.

it has a plastic carb? the inner sleeve is probably expanding too much and sticking to the inside. because it is overheating.....this isnt a very repairable problem. call traxxas and see what they can do.

as fas as the carb stickers...you gotta mess with the arm angle on the carb. If that doesnt work your screwed. Sometimes slop develops between the car barrel and body leaving it irrepairable.
However, it is repairable in its earlier stages like said earlier.
