It really sounds like you have a meshing problem. My SS chewed about 3 or 4 spur gears before i realised I didn't have the mesh set right. Heres a good way to set the mesh correctly.

- Loosen your engine mounts
- Get a piece of folded printer paper
- Roll it in between the clutch and spur gear
- Push the engine hard up against the spur gear
- Lock the engine mounts tight
- Roll the paper out from between the gears.

Since using this method I have never blown another spur gear.

The biggest cause of stripped spurs is loose screws on the motor mount/motor plate area. Make sure all of the screwn on the motor area are tight and have blue threadlocker on them. Use aftermarket threadlocker as the factory stuff tends to be a little thick and doesnt seem to stay on the threads as well.
