Veteran Opinions Sought

Hello RC Monster Men,

There is a good chance Santa will bring this for Christmas this year. Can I ask some veteran RC guys to offer some thoughts on it please? Thanks!

The front and rear differentials use a PLASTIC RING GEAR, that also has the diff cup built into it. The spider gears are metal, no idea what the differential pinion is. Forget putting brushless into this.

In my opinion this is a vehicle that is probably ok overall and great for small kids to get into the hobby with, but not something you can grow with.

Kept looking for “ brushless ready” but never found it. It might be fine as a brushed truck. Which could work depending on who’s driving it. Just see most will be soon waiting more power to it.

Exactly. For certain users it might be fine as is but be aware it would need to stay as is as far as power. Unless you like replacing drivetrain parts when you try to make it go faster. For someone with a 3-5 year old and also a younger child, this could make a good first truck for the 3-5 year old and be passed down to the younger child. It's better than "toy grade" as you can replace parts, customize with different bodies and wheels, etc.

I gotta say I'm fairly impressed with the engineering of it though. Not the engineering for function but the engineering for how it's built to a price point. It appears the assembly of the Granite is super easy and quick reducing factory assembly costs. How reliable and durable it is remains to be seen though.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. This will be for a 7 y/o and he wants a kit to try building for himself after helping me build my Tekno, so the Arrma is out for now. I need a new thread...

That’s cool that he wants to build. Now hard part is going to be finding kit he wants.
