I was pondering the same thing, just not liking the idea of brushed stuff again so it would be nice to have some type of rules to follow, as some will say if it's not in black and white then it's good to go, this could be a fun race class if done correctly

from the facebook posts, it sounds like (NOTE: THIS IS NOT DEFINITIVE) the class may have an upper limit of the vxl system RTRs.

I could consider that personally if my kids are interested too. My older one though is really liking the buggies lol.

Also, something about those OBA slash versions seems cool to me at least.

Yes, that was my thoughts. Entirely stock truck with the brushless system as maximum allowed motor. I don't want to force people to buy that if they have a brushed truck already.

Sportsman class would run Saturday.

Please define stock truck, thoughts on that LCG chassis?? My own radio?? And what about lipo 2s battery?? Limits on C ratings and hard case for safety?? What about RPM arms or is this strictly Traxxas parts, traxxas servo's and the vxl with the 3500kv motor

The reason I am asking as their are quite a few of these in the for sale section and on eBay with some of the " hop-up-parts" and really don't want to pickup a couple of trucks with this stuff already added and not be within the rules.

Again, this is my opinions to this point. It has to be finalized by the club.

I was thinking of the truck, as it comes out of the box, no hop ups. The only change would be the receiver so you can use your radio.

This is the truck I was thinking of. https://m.traxxas.com/products/models/electric/58024slash

This would be the biggest motor you can use.
https://m.traxxas.com/products/parts/3350R

2s lipo maximum. What else?

not sure how the 8.4V NIMH that is included with some versions of the truck compares to a 2S lipo, maybe a max of 8.4V NIMH and 2S hardcased lipo could be an option depending on what fits the needs of the club best.

just a thought

Did a bit of searching, it seems traxxas does offer at least the 2wd truck in several configurations that have "hop-ups" in comparison to other versions of the truck, like the LCG chassis on this version:

Traxxas Slash VXL LCG 1/10 RTR Short Course Truck w/On Board Audio, TSM, TQi & iD Battery

https://www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas...076-21/p445447

This is the Traxxas Slash VXL LCG 1/10 Ready to Run Short Course Truck. This Slash VXL is hard-loaded for ultimate performance and realism with the Traxxas On-Board Audio, Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) and a low-CG chassis. Traxxas On-Board Audio delivers the full short course experience with the powerful and loud sound of a 900 horsepower engine ripping through the gears. While TSM and the Low CG chassis combine for next level speed and precision.
As a suggestion to be taken up by the club, maybe it would be good to say whatever part comes on any of the slashes for your class (so 2wd to 2wd, 4x4 to 4x4) you can use on your truck.

So, in short, if traxxas sells a slash with an LCG chassis and without, you can "upgrade" your truck to that.

Again, just a thought to keep things simple as much as possible that the club can discuss further.

That's not really the spirit I'd like the class to have. The basic kit only, you can choose 7 cell nimh or 2s lipo. You can add the vxl 3350R only. This class is really meant to bring all of the people that have a slash to the track, get them hooked and have them get into other classes. I don't want to see this turn into a cut throat stock class.

If that's the case, then you will want to specify exactly what slash kit is legal and which one isn't since Traxxas makes more than just 1 type of kit, hence the link I listed above.

Could be something as simple as the version I listed isn't legal, etc due to its lcg chassis.

Just a thought.

Oh for those curious on seeing a track that Jon has done in the past (or at least part of it), I found this:

Excited to see what is done for the new one.

Holy crap I remember Jon telling me what he wanted for that big jump, and I HAD no idea on how to build it, as it was a step up to a step off to clear a gap, and was probably 100 feet or so from the bleachers " drivers stand " lots of cars ended up in the horse fence.

MMR's successful Spec slash class uses only brushed slash's with 8.4 lipo and you can swap the servo and use your own radio and receiver. They found the traxxas servos blew out instantly making it no fun. So the allowed those to swap. I would look into their rules and go from there, as it's their second largest class to stock buggy some nights.

I thought about this too, I just liked the idea of allowing either to keep cost down for people that already have a slash.
That's good to know about the servos, thanks Danny.
