Need 1/8th brushless help...
Trying to get into brushless 1/8th scale. Been in and out of the hobby
from the late 80's LOL. I remember when the rc10 was the bomb.
Anyone remember the red SCR cells we used to use, and only 4 minute mains!
Lipo's and brushless are new to me, trying to get a handle on them.
Anyway, I picked up a Ofna Violator 9.5 last year. Going to convert it to lipo
and brushless.
Whats a good combo for ESC, motor and batteries that wont brake the bank?
I will be running it around my track in my yard and want to come out and play
with the MN Electric series this summer.
Thanks for any help
~Chris
Also, what are some good tires that I can get for different tracks?
Are there a few sets that would have me covered for different tracks?

tekin rx8 and a 1700 is a great combo.. enough to get it done and yet you can drive it.. we ran those all last year and this.. max I would go is the 1900...
Tires are all over the map.. I can tell you we ran calibers at all tracks last year.. m4, on most, m3, and some that got hot and hard m2 compound... there is always a better tire at some track and if you wish to chase it it may give you a edge... we just found a good balance on the caliber and decided not to chase the tire game.. I think it would be really cool if each track in the series would spec a tire.. then you know you have what everyone else has and only have to bring one box of rubbers to the track.

I would say to stay between the 1700kv and 1900kv mark. Anything more is ALLOT of power and real hard to drive.
As far as ESC's. The Castle Mamba Max Monster and Tekin RX8's are most popular, some have used the HobbyWing and Losi eXcellron with success.
And if you think SCR's were bad, you should have been around for 1200mah SC packs lol.
