I will be relocating to the Albert Lea area in a few weeks and am trying to find a track that runs carpet or asphalt road course for electric touring cars and 12th scale in that area. (100 miles or so)Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info. So I take it off road is the primary form of racing in southern MN? If this is the case I guess it would give me a valid reason to buy another car!!
We run on-road 1/5 F1 racing at the Shoe in Anoka every other Friday night as well, the other Fridays we run at Hideaway in Isanti. This Friday it will be at Hideaway. Plus, there is Fisks Hobbyfarm track for off-road. They run a big race this weekend.
Oh, I forgot, at the Shoe, anyone that can sum up a class of 3 racers is more than welcome to run. We ahve run Electric TC:s there in the past, but for this season so far it has only been the F1:s and the Nitro tourers.
Thanks again, I appreciate the info. I will be up there for about a month before my wife moves up, so I should be able to check out some of the area tracks.
this link will get you the shoe, hideaway, link to Tchr, And fisks.

Paintwerks also has a calendar and listing of all the tracks we are aware of in minn and the surrounding area. Paintwerks can also be reached at www.paintwerksracing.com. Sometimes the .bizland site is down, but the .com never is.
This is just a thought... I think I can get a hold of some timing software if there are people wanting to race a road course in Albert Lea or Mankato and am sure I could sweet talk a place of business with a large parking lot to let us use a corner.
What do you guys think? Are there enough touring cars (gas and electric) in southern MN to justify putting together a race or two?
I realize there are a lot of "if's" in this statement...again this is just a thought.
I think it is a great initiative. Different people have tried some formats in recent years, with various sucess. There are definately enough people out there, the problem is how to get the message across to enough of them plus entice them to actually show up. The forums are not visited by everyone. We have had good sucess with fliers at hobbystores etc. If you can only get engouh people to fill a heat or two for a couple of races, then it typically builds momentum by itself after that. I'd suggest researching the possibility to do it in cooperation with a racing minded hobbystore that can help promote the deal. I am all for creating more opportunities for people to race.
