Default SURREY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY PARK

This is the new thread for upcoming events such as this last weekend, give an official name to the thread, Bob and Evan from Stormer Hobbies had a great time running with you guys this weekend, its great to be around people so enthused about the hobby! and 6000mah lipos are on the way lol....can you say 30 minute race...

Off road was fun, slash class is our largest right now, i think we ran 9 0r 10 of those, 1/10 4wd mostly made up of Ofna Mini Hyper ST E was second largest. And 1/8th Buggy with about 6-7 mostly electric. A race lead by Mitch till servo failure i do believe and Tyler came in a picked up the win, those two guys can race those things!
THANKS!! to the dickinson boys who made it out, we appreciate your attendance!
we will have the track in better shape for a truggy next time, thats our fault with zero run time on the track virtually besides the smaller trucks. Youll be on the oval anyways though right

Oval was fun, good to see some nitro sprintcars out there, maybe a prelude of things to come, and about 10 cars showed up for 1/10 pan, And you can run 25 solid minutes on a lipo, Bob found that out for us, but you need to start with fresh skins.

Overall EXCELENT WEEKEND THANKS EVERYBODY!!!

Club Members, we also need to set up a work day to change the back into a straightaway.

Thanks
Chuck C.

1/10 Pan Car 17.5 2s Lipo Foam tires on oval or 4cell NiMh 10.5

1/10 4wd, 2wd, Stock Core for sure. this will be more of a regular club racing weekend.

<---Evan and I dragged our nitro sprints out and gave them a look. Gonna get those worked on for next time.

A few videos I shot.

I gotta do a better job of showing Chuckles how to handle my CAM. none of the Slash stuff was on the camera. I might not have showed him where the on/off switch was. He was gettin "artsy" too. would have been good footage.

I mentioned I'd whip up an aerial shot of the Surrey track with a possible solution for a dirt oval and offroad track.

To make the best use of limited helpers, I'd make the oval and offroad tracks integral and share the same drivers stand. Easier to build, easier to maintain. Down the road, only one additional set of lights, etc. Fence it and make the one end open for trucks with trailers.

This solution allows for vehicles to get by and drive behind the driver stand for the dirt track. Not so far away that the pits under the oval stand aren't usable. Dirt track is centered in the area. that way if you want to make it bigger, you have that accounted for in any direction. And in the mean time, good parking all the way around it.

Dirt tracks happen pretty quickly. 7-10 hours in a skid steer and you have a badass track. Use the dirt from the existing track to make it happen and re-level that area for parking.

Oval track, 40x80? 50x90? Guy would need to do the research and error on the small side if 2 ideas were presented. Don't be afraid to utilize the straights and corners for the oval track for the offroad track. Tough to keep the ruts out of an oval track. need to make a drag of some kind, pull it behind a lawn tractor or whatever to level it between race days or on a busy racing weekend. If dirt oval becomes more popular, you haven't wasted much time or effort, and the same for offroad. If it's more popular, you can still use the oval track to race offroad on. Saves time.

Default New Layout

This is what I got done this weekend, give you an idea of the layout, alot of spots are either easier to get around or wider. EXP after the table top into the first turn. Infield has fewer switch backs as well and alot easier to navigate. There is now a tripple in the infield. Pritty simple for jumps right now, if the turns are good then we may make some more jumps in the spring.

Just trying to get the basic layout better for now. Its not quite all done but really close. Just Troy Fish and Myself worked on it this weekend.

And as for a two day I dont beleive we are doing two days of racing, just open track for two days with off road and oval on saturday for an actual racing format, we will have to computers and just have to switch the AMB unit. So the races will be setup for smooth transition.

New fees are $15 and then $10 for extra classes and that covers the extra practice the following day. If you race oval and off road the oval is concidered a second class as of now so one off roand entry and one oval would be $25
