Foam was little simpler, but it's own set of problems, chunking, truing, ride height, etc.. The only way in my opinion that a rubber tire class works, is if there is a contol premounted tire, and that's all you can run, too many variables otherwise...
Control tires often have their own issues, not everyone drives the same, likes the same traction balance, different brand cars behave different on the same tire, etc... No easy answer here.... JEFF
Yep no easy anwser and very valid points from Jeff and when fall comes around I will be still on foam. Rubber is fun if you love tweaking and have the time to do so but some of us are just that lazy = foam and are limited in time we can spend. All last season the only setup changes made to my foam car were, ride hieght, rotating tires, and rebuilding 19 turn motors. The foam car aways have traction no matter what the track conditions and really runs like my 12th scale. You can get a rubber car to perform at the same level it takes alot of track time, experience, and money to get it there. I am not saying dont try it, I am not against it, but I know if will cost me alot more money during a season to keep it tip top (more sets of tires then you can shake a stick at). Sedan racing isnt really dead, I think it has matured and people will come back to it over time. My hope is next year when we start racing again some of the layout are bit more sedan friendy for passing and what not.
Haywood good topic, I know we will start seeing more faces in sedan when fall comes around. I know of 2 other racers that plan on coming out to play.

Later,
Shawn

Agree with Sandy on for sure not splitting a small class. I think the class should stay as has been 17.5 and 13.5, maybe bump that to open?,but for sure FOAM as the rule.

Sedan is going to make a comback this year with the slowing of the TA class (hopefully).

It isn't really fair to run the two tires sets together, the speed maybe almost the same for a qualifying lap, but the lines and the way they are driven isn't the same at all.

Last summer, I was running rubber with the foam guys for a couple of reasons. 1. because I wanted too, 2. because it made the driving more interesting for me. (don't assume cocky here, just challenging myself to get better)

If you are good enough and are willing to understand the conciquiences of running rubber with the foam class, I say go for it. If you can beat up on foam cars with rubber, you will have really done something that day!

I personally want to run rubber (SOME Not Always) this year to prepare for the Novak race.

Guys,Once again I never wanted to split the class in half,I was just saying if a guy wants to chose to run rubber and be at a disadvantage so what! That should be his or her choice.Once again I want to say that my intention was not to start a tire war it was just to get others opinion on this matter.I asked the same question under the electric on road forum and got lots of feedback.Check it out.
