Big carpet race scheduled
#47
The last two years the Shrine has let us bring the cart upstairs and unroll the carpet Thursday night to let it relax overnight, so we've had the track done mid-day (in time for lunch). That is being done, however, by the kindness of the Shrine since they aren't being paid for Thursday. If there's actually something going on in the gymnasium we wouldn't be able to do that. Worst case scenario has practice opening by 4pm or so, so that's what you would want to "count" on. Then again, if you came at noon you'd only have to kill a couple hours and we'd have tables out so you could get your pit set up, etc.

Hey Randy,
If I were to make a guess on the largest classes I'd say 1/12 Stock will probably be the largest, followed by "Club Spec" Vintage TA (4-cell / 27t power only, 1525g minimum weight). We get a good solid club group of TC Stock / Rubber (spec tire is Jaco Blue) but not sure how many traveling racers will be joining them. I can see 1/12 SuperStock being well attended or not. A few racers are coming up from Denver with their Vintage TA cars which are full USVTA-spec (4-cell 27t or 17.5, LiPo 21.5 and 1450 minimum weight are the major differences from Club Spec).
I'd be in HEAVEN if we get a good handful of WGT entrants. No one here but me has one, but you guys had a fair crowd and the Denver group races the wheels of 'em.
Kelly Inn is probably a good safe bet. Near the freeways, food, etc, at reasonable prices.

Tell Rob to bring the WGT. I'm hoping Randy L. brings his and Bob and Evan bring theirs. I'll have mine (and MAYBE a loaner) and am REALLY looking forward to FINALLY give it a try. I didn't have it built in time for Minot, and due to an embarrasing mis-understanding (Scottrik the Techno-Tard struck again) I wasn't able to run it on my extended field trip to Denver the following week. It's sorted out now...and I hope to have it on the track at our practice day next weekend.
I'm negotiating right now for another car and, thus, may have a loaner available too if one of the locals is interested in trying their hand at it.

Have too say that this is by far one of the greatest clubs and races i have had the pleasure to attend.. The people are just down right a pleasure and had a blast the last time i was there.... Trying to get things in order to be able to come out there this year. But life throws some curves.. So we will have to wait and see... But if anyone was thinking of going, DO IT you will not be disappointed ..

I try to eventually build one of all of them. And where Blackstock is concerned, simple fact is, he drove the "SHE-IT" out of that 12r5 in Cleveland. made the car look pretty good.
SERPENT,
I've been working on the Serpent. It's been re-designed...my way.

Bob--you should have Doug Powell (PRC) bring one of his new chassis up for you. Maybe talk REAL nice and he'll do one of his "inlays" for you. It was absolutely stunning-cool, but not practical for regular production. It's one-of-a-kind cool enough you'd want one for your collection even if you didnt race it.
