Any ETA on a NorthStar Classic flyer? Only something less than six weeks until the thunder decends upon Minot!!

Hopefully ya'll have ordered up somewhat more hospitable weather for we non igloo-inhabiting out-of-towners. Fat guys from Seattle have never experienced zero degrees or 100 degrees 'cause neither has ever happened. Then we move to Billings and take mid-December "vacations" to Minot. What the hell were we thinking???!!!

JP and I are meeting Bob, Evan and Randon out on the coast this weekend for the big Scotty Ernst race at TimeZone near Portland, then I've got a race week scheduled down in Denver (this time the week BEFORE the NorthStar) so I should be good and practiced up. My only excuse will be if my tire budget is used up...

Or I'll think of a couple more, always need excuses for getting lapped THAT many times by Mitch the Man!!

Any other recommendations on equipment would be appreciated as well. I have been out for a while and really would like to buy the right stuff the first time. Not sure if that is possible with how quickly the fast stuff changes these days, but would like to at least start kind of close.

Thanks,

Ian

I would take this info for both 17.5 and 13.5. Thanks again.

Hey Ian as far as rollouts in 12th scale if you are running a Tekin RS you will probably rollout between a 3.5 and 3.7 if you use a LRP (any one) it will be around a 4.15 to 4.25. The best motor out there is still the original Trinity Duo.
A 72 or 73 Spur is what you are going to want to buy as far as pinions goes it all depends on what speed control you go with. The nice thing about the Tekin stuff is you can update programs via hotwire. CRC has just released there Advanced Electronic speedo for preorder, this is supposed to be the ticket.

We finished beans today and we are ready for a great carpet season.

Thanks Tyler

Just got off of the crc site checking out the advanced electronics speedo. I like the idea of using the battery eliminator circuitry of the speedo so you dont need an external regulator, but would rather use booster than a reciever pack. and 350 bucks for the lv and 400 for the tc version? Does it drive the car for you? holy cow.. Looks cool, but a little too rich for my blood.. maybe if there is a "street price" closer to the tekin, but probably going with a rs.

The Tekin is a good speed control. There are plenty of them being used in the club up here.

I think you'll find the "street price" to be right around the numbers you've quoted...possibly even higher as dealers engage in a little "free enterprise".

We were at a race that featured CRC driver Brian Wynn and I got to visit with him a bit. Apparently there's no doubt the new esc is a bit (a few tenths) faster than the others but he was describing that the "advantage" at IIC was as much that they "came off the trailer" with their car ready to rock-n-roll. He'd been at the track in Denver (VERY tacky "Jack" track) the preceeding week and had been at the track for (iir) 36 hours straight getting the car as dialed as it could be. He sounded kind of hurt that everybody credited all the speed advantage to the esc, he credited it with about half.

He also was telling the company line re: the Advantage pricing (comes from Europe, highest quality components, US dollar virtually Monopoly money vs. the Euro, ad infinitum). I'm pretty sure a healthy part of the story is that they've built a better mouse trap and they know they'll sell all of 'em they can get for a good long while at those prices. Racers will spend what it takes.

Then again, I can drive better lines for free...and there's LOTS of room for improvement in my own game.
