2017 Dog Days of Summer Race Series
This thread is no longer monitored. Visit the latest https://www.rctech.net/forum/mid-atl...romotions.html Thread for any important news and updates.
Who’s ready for a fun and exciting 10th scale off-road series hosted some of the best 10th scale off-road tracks in the region?!
Last year we organized a race series between two tracks as an experiment to see if a 10th scale summer race series would be viable in our region and we were pleasantly surprised by the out pour of support from the industry and the attendance of the racers in our region.
With 214 entries between the 4 races we decided to forge ahead with expanding the series to other tracks.
This year we're expanding the series and aim to make it one of the premier race series in the country.
Here is the 2017 series schedule:
This race series has always been by racers, for racers with the emphasis on having fun.
Registration Cost:
$30 first class, $25 each additional
Awards:
Awards will be given out for the top 5 A-main finishers in each class at each race.
The overall series award will be given to the top 5 finishers in each class.
There will be one drop in the series.
Track Incentives:
Top Dog Awards:
These awards will be given out to the top 3 racers with the most combined podium finishes in the series.
We will maintain a list throughout the series similar to how Olympic medal counts is done.
Classes:
Door Prizes:
Each entry will give you 3 raffle tickets.
Additional raffle tickets can be purchased up until the race start time. The proceeds from raffle tickets go towards the shop gift certificate for the shop that the race is taking place at. Only original entry raffle tickets will be drawn for this prize.
50/50 raffle tickets can be purchased up until the start of the Mains. One ticket will be pulled from the 50/50 pool and that ticket holder will win 50% of the cash received from the 50/50 raffle sales. The other half of the proceeds will go towards shop gift certificate for the shop that the race is taking place at.
Smaller door prizes awarded throughout the day. These will be a combination of the race entry and additional purchased raffle tickets. Winners will play a chance game (ducks, cups, etc) to determine which prize box to choose from. Each winning raffle will be set aside and later added back in for the larger door prizes.
Shop Gift Certificate
We will only pull from the original entry raffle tickets for this prize.
Larger door prizes awarded at the end of the evening by raffle draw. The original entry raffle tickets will be added to the pool along with previous pulled raffle tickets.
Registration Process:
After you unload your stuff to your pit space you’ll need to go to the registration table (look for signs). Have your transponder numbers ready before you get there. I recommend writing them down or taking a pic.
Fill out the registration form and take it into the hobby shop to make payment. The hobby shop will stamp your registration form as paid and you’ll then bring it back to the registration table. You will then receive a door prize ticket for each entry. You can also purchase more door prize tickets at the registration table.
Race Program:
The number of qualifying rounds will be determined by the number of heats in the round. If there are 12 heats or more we will run 2 rounds of qualifying. If there are 11 heats or less then we will run 3 rounds of qualifying.
Only one practice lap before your race allowed.
All qualifying heats will be 5 minutes.
All lower mains & sportsman will be 6 minutes.
All A-mains will be 10 minutes.*
2 bump ups from all lower mains.
* A-mains may be cut back to 7 minutes if we're running behind. This is the race directors call. If you want to keep your 10 minute A-mains then make sure people are out to Marshal as quickly as possible to keep the program moving.
The Tracks:
Bumps & Jumps - 643 Old York Rd, Etters, PA 17319
This is an indoor clay track with weathered metal jumps. The facility has plenty of pit spaces so you don't need to bring a table with you. The tire of choice is a clay compound bar style tire (Pro-Line Electron/Microns/Positron)
Adrenaline RC - 246 Sulky Dr, Winchester, VA 22602
This is an indoor clay/soil track. The facility provides up to 50 tables and chairs although you should bring your own just in case they're all taken. The tire of choice is a super soft mini pin style tire (Pro-line Holeshot)
The Track - 16806-08 Oakmont Ave, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877
This is an indoor hard packed dirt track with a heavy blue groove. The facility provided a few tables and chairs but I would recommend you bring your own. The tire of choice is a super soft slick (Pro-line Prime) or bar style tire (Pro-Line Electron)
Mushroom Bowl - 960 W Cypress St, Kennett Square, PA
This is an outdoor dirt track with a dusty/loamy surface. You will need to bring your own table and chairs. If you have a canopy you should bring that as well. The tire of choice is a super soft mini pin style tire (Pro-Line Holeshot)
Pit Stop Hobbies - 262 W Main St, Mount Joy, PA
This is an outdoor clay track with a dusty surface. You will need to bring your own table and chairs. If you have a canopy you should bring that as well. The tire of choice is a super soft mini pin style tire (Pro-Line Holeshot)
Class Rules:
We follow the basic ROAR class rules.
You can find the latest rule guide here: http://www.roarracing.com/downloads/..._Rule_Book.pdf
To sum it up we're looking for:
All classes - 2S lipo only with maximum charge of 8.40v.
2wd Stock Short Course Truck - ROAR approved 17.5t motor and ROAR approved speed control in no-timing ("blinky") mode.
2wd Mod Short Course Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control.
2wd Mod Stadium Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control.
2wd Stock Buggy - ROAR approved 17.5t motor and ROAR approved speed control in no-timing ("blinky") mode.
2wd Mod Buggy - Open Motor and Speed Control.
4wd Short Course Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control. 1/8th scale motors not allowed.
4wd Mod Buggy - Open Motor and Speed Control.
Sportsman - Any 10th scale vehicle, open motor and speed control. The idea of sportsman class is to allow a driver to improve their driving to the point where they can race in their corresponding class. If a racer in sportsman's qualifier laps is greater than 80% (rounded up) of the top qualifier time in the corresponding class then they will be moved to that class. (For example, a sportsman racer is racing with a 4x4 SCT. The top qualifier in 4x4 SCT is 12 laps in 5:00. If the sportsman racer gets 10 or more laps then they are ready to race in the regular class and they will be bumped into the 4x4 SCT class)

The first race of the Dog Days Race Series kicks off this weekend.
So far these (see attached image) are the door prizes for Bumps & Jumps.
There are still several packages stuck in the mail so this pile will get larger.
Each track will have a similar amount of door prizes.

"So this year instead of going out and buying some boring old plastic trophy we decided to step it up a notch. We wanted to give Top 5 awards at each of the 5 races as well as Top 5 overall series awards. So we went to our friends over at Vinyl Creations and dreamed up this awards collection. The collection is a pentagon shape with the outer pieces being the race award and the center piece being the overall series award. We hope this is even more incentive to make it out to each race in the series!"
Good luck with this guys hope all works out well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I don't have a horse in this race but top 10 would be a bigger incentive for the over all series and if you do them all well hell give a shirt
just a thought
