Waterproof ESC for mini's?

Howdy gang-

what all have yall for for waterproof ESC's for mini's?

The Racerstar ESC's are listed as "Waterproof", but both of mine (45a and 30a) smoked after water running. The 30a, I had dissembled it and liquid-electrical-taped everything, and it still cooked off. Well, it ran a pack of 2s with a lot of it under water, but smoked on the first 3s trigger pull after that...

Seems the Hobby King ESC's don't show waterproof till 60 or 80 amps. HobbyWing only shows waterproof on their tiny 18a, and the big 120a models.

Is the Traxxas MERV brushless ESC about our only option? What is it rated for? Looking for something that can power a 2838, about 45a, and run 2s/3s.

Thanks,
Jerry

The Vaterra Kemora/Kalahri was waterproof. I know I packed mine in snow. I'm looking at mine now. All the stickers have worn off. It ran 2/3s

Losi 1/14 also.

OK, I had seen that QR16, but thought it was a 16a esc... LOL I have been running my 1/16 truggy on a 4500kv 2838 with a 35a esc, and the ESC get very hot - 150+. Plus it is dead now. So I really don't want another 30. The HW should be better quality than the Racerstar, but still, looking at the specs, that 2838 is bigger than recommended.

The HW10BL60-Sensored looks interesting. Small footprint, (smaller than the QR16) and I should be able to run it without the fan. Anyone run this ESC?

I run the sensorless 60a esc in my truggy, it's very smooth and with the fan installed it runs very cool.

They're all waterproof with conformal coating.

This one is: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/tracksta...hless-esc.html
I got one that was destroyed by a faulty motor and when I opened it it was fully potted in epoxy, looks good.

I haven't heard from you in a while JerryRigged, good to see your name pop up again.

I like the hobbywing 10bl60. It isn't as small as the 35A esc so I usually mount it on the top chassis brace.

Banggood has some options here.

The Tazer 45A is waterproof too.

Revisiting my old thread. I am down to one ESC for 3 mini's... LOL Only one still running is my 45a Hobbyking. Not waterproof. It is currently powerering my girl's MMT, with a 2440 4800kv motor. Footprint is exactly the right size, I can't go any bigger...

Backyard RC - Howdy, and thanks! nothing on Banggood catches my eye. I already toasted 2 RacerStar's so those are out. I think the Gools are the same ESC with a different label. I do have a Tazer45a at the house -it was the RTR ESC in my son's Torment. Decent ESC, but not waterproof. Water will shut it down, but I open it up and dry it out, and it always comes back to life. Also, it is HUGE compared to my HK45a ESC.

I need to look into the HW10BL60. It would be a good fit for my 1/16 truggy. The trackstar 30a waterproof could would with smaller motor in the MMT, or maybe the 2040 in my Remo SCT (1/16) (old ESC was a 25a).
