I'm not sure if you've bought anything yet, but I'm another vote for the truggy. I've had both and the buggywas just a little too small so I ended up selling it pretty quickly. On the truggy I have replaced the motor with a cheap $15 motor and put a $40 quickrun 60a esc in. That's the only thing I've done so far and it's a blast on 2s. I have a couple of the black plastic skateboard kicker ramps that I use for my 1/8 scale monster trucks and it gets tons of air with really nice control too.

I have the buggy, it is great on the street or in VERY short grass. If you want to run in most grass conditions get the truggy. Even my 1/10 scales will end up swimming in long grass.

For the most part, both of them will cog a little. I have a feeling you will end-up replacing the motor and ESC in which ever one you get. Both will have heat issues in the summer on the grass no matter how short it is.

Default Mini 8ight or 8ight T?

It's such a hard choice!!
I am leaning towards the M8 because it doesn't cog as much as the M8T. Is this true? Which will have a faster speed out of the box? Which will be the best for huge jumps durability wise? Can you just tell me everything you know and which one i should get?

I suggest the Mini 8ight-T. It handles much better and the arms are thicker than the buggy. Also the Truggy body covers the front suspension. Which is an issue with the buggy. I have both and I enjoy both. If I had to choose one or the other. I would pick the M8T.

Mini 8ight T.

With a handful of "necessary" upgrades it is quite the little machine!

I'm really thinking about going to the LC Truggy. 380 motors fit it, comes with cvd's in the front end and is very durable. Plus I keep getting beat by them.

So what's wrong with the buggy?

How much will in need to spend to make the truggy reliable? I'm shooting for 300$ complete with lipo and charger. So truggy may be a little above but I can stretch it. See my other threads and help me out. Thanks

Here's what I did to my M8T when I purchased it:

ExoTek Carbon Chassis Brace*
ExoTek Carbon Battery Strap*
Steel CVD'S
Hobbywing 35a ESC*
Tactic TTX300 TX/RX combo*
RPM 4-40 Ballcups*
ProLine wheel/tire combo*
Smeared diffs with*automotive*grease

Running the factory motor for now with a 14t pinion on 2s.*

ESC has yet to exceed 100F.*
Motor stays below 150F.

All told I maybe have $400-$450ish in it.

But that's with nearly every potential issue addressed. Truck is SOLID and handles exceptionally well.

I believe the stock Spektrum system is absolute garbage. Mine sure was. Hence the reason I replaced the TX/RX with a Tactic 2.4ghz system. Your experience with Spektrum may differ.

As far as the spur issues people always complain about. I'm still on my factory spur gear. I've had zero issues. I think some people just don't know how to properly set the mesh. Either that or they're overpowered/overgeared.

Clearance. The buggy is great for smooth surfaces only. Not very fun elsewhere. Track days are awesome. Street runs as well.

Do to the ground clearance issues. I converted mine into a Monster Truck. Now it's enjoyable in more terrains than in buggy form.

Here is a picture of my Losi Mini 8ight Monster Truck conversion.

It's a bit more basher friendly this way.

Also I did a Monster Truck conversion for my Mini 8ight-T it's a Blast to run on 3s.

For me the only downside was clearance, but I solved that issue.

The LC Racing lineup is awesome! I have those as well.

You can also get them a NitroRCX.com under the Tacon brand. Truggy isn't available yet. But for your price range this may be the best bet. They are truly amazing and well built.

So I just need to gear down, get a TBR bumper and a lipo? How fast on 2s?

Idk why but I'm still leaning toward the buggy. What upgrades does it need?

Is the m8 with avc more stable than the m8 original? Is the avc in the truggy make it more stable?
