And if I break something. . . oh well, I'll try and find it on ebay, amazon, etc. If not, I'll just buy another 1/12 scale or F1 car!!! haha!!
Until they show " in stock" it's hard to trust dates with Hpi.

Hey Aracefan,

I read in one of your posts that you own both the Xray M18 (not pro) and the HPI RS4 Micro. Curious which you like better and why?

I am selling my 18r (team associated 1/18th) and going to go w/ either of the two kits Xray or HPI. I love the 18th scale for various reasons. I like Xray products (have the X1 and race it in my club). I also like that Xray's M18 comes in a kit, I really hate RTR's ...but if the HPI is that much better maybe I could find a roller on eBay, take it apart and rebuild (to get my kit building fix on).

Your thoughts on the two kits?
thanks,

Man, sorry eR1c, hadn't been in here in a while. I actually like both kits and find that both have decent quality. The Xray M18 is probably the "better" one to me. Although, I really dig them both and have been an HPI fan for ages - they both are fun to drive and "play" with. I have the Micro RS4 Exotek Chassis but still have yet to put it on (have got back into 1/12 carpet racing again) but it looks $$.

To me, and most people who love these little cars, the problem is no one really races them - and parts/hop-ups are hard to come by. I would really like to see the on-road 1/18 really pick up, that'd be great.

Honestly, if you like building (I completely understand, same way) the kit, then I would go with the Xray. You know that Xray's kits are nice.

Good luck, and hope it helped.

Thanks,
-Barry

thanks,
I've got 2 of the Micro RS4. One for drift, other with stock "grip" tires. The drift one is ok for indoors. The other is so so around shop. It's useless out on pavement.
Maybe next year I can get few others interested in the XRay. For past 2 years we have run mostly Dromida, a few Associated 1/18 for fun. For now we are just waitng for the new Dromida touring cars.

thanks,

having owned both, I can say that the M18 is a significant improvement over the RS4. Back in the day I had a Ratzas chassis modification for my RS4, which created a chassis layout similar to the M18, but was still lacking n tuning abilities. The M18 has more adjustability than the RS4, and thus can be better adapted to different conditions.

Where are you guys getting bodies??

I have an Xray M18 TC body (came stock w/ the M18pro kit). Also managed to pick up a NIB HPI Lambo Murcielago body kit w/ decals. ...but looking at the HPI site it appears they've discontinued ALL the micro bodies (so typical of HPI ...they love to discontinue stuff). There are some nice looking bodies they produced ...I did get a Team Blue Groove body, the 956 styled body ...but the rest of TBG kits don't come w/ decals ...I really like getting kits w/ decals because of the window trim and things that make it look more realistic.

anyway,
just curious if anyone knows where to get the HPI bodies (or is it just keep looking on eBay for some to come up)??

check eBay...do a search for ''xray m18 body'' and you will see a lot of body that will fit the HPI micro. good luck.

With the change of ownership. A lot of the licensing deals expired.

bummer,
all HPI sells as current bodies is the discount tire, ford fiesta and ford mustang body ...all pre-painted and pre-drilled.

Nice stash to just find. Those tires would really change how it drives.

I've been taking my 1/18th out to our local track (for practice). It is a blast to drive.
