Not 100% sure but I'd guess no since these are on a longer chassis.

Oh, I see. But changing a spur gear is about the same as on a mini 8ight?

Anybody done up a more scale looking body? Like with a real team paint scheme, Repsol, Redbull, something like that? I'm referring to kalahari of corse.

Yeah. According to the Vaterra rep, the two platforms share 90% of their parts. The mini8 chassis is shorter and the arms, driveshafts and links are wider but you can swap as you please.

So I just noticed that the Kemora is down to $150... anyone know why? I'm thinking of picking one up now

Since the stock 380 motor is said to be a bit weak, have you guys upgraded to any aftermarket motors?

You can get box-damaged cars on eBay for as low as $100 and brand new for $120-$130.

The stock motor is not a 380. It's a 280-370 and I don't think any 380s will fit without modding. However, I haven't heard anyone saying the motor is underpowered, regardless. These are extremely fast and nearly uncontrollable on 3S. If you really want more power, you'll probably need other upgrades as well like in the drivetrain and this might not be the best platform for you.

Interesting. I haven't seen one of these in person, I was going based on the Big Squid review a while back. I didn't realize the motor isn't a true 380, that's unfortunate. But, at this price point, I'm willing to see what it can do. I don't mind trying to mod it later if needed.

Isn't the chassis interchangeable with a lot of Losi Mini 8ight parts? I figured the motor upgrades would be too. Hrm.

According to the rep who started this thread, 90% of the parts are compatible. Not always direct replacement, though. For example, arms, links and driveshafts will work but are longer on the m8 so it would widen the Vaterra cars and would require all of them changed together. The m8 is also sitting on a shorter chassis.

Sorry guys I have not been on this thread for awhile, I have been super busy with projects and have not had time to get on here and get your questions answered.

I see alot of you guys are asking why we lowered the price of the Kemora and Kalahari. We wanted to get more vehicles out on the market and we felt that the price point it was at was to high.

We are not discontinuing these vehicles and will continue to support both platforms.

Also, if any of you guys have cool paint jobs for you Kemora or Kalahari's please post them and we could put them up on our FB Vaterra website page,

Again guys i'm sorry for being away from the thread so long.

You are correct, the Kemora is longer than the Mini 8 so the drive shaft will not work but the suspension parts diff's and other parts are compatable.

Thanks, Raymon. Good to hear they aren't being discontinued. I'll be sure to put my custom painted Kalahari body up when I get the chance.

So they are not being discontinued? That is not what I hear from my local hobby store and they got the word directly from Horizon apparently.

Is this news from Vaterra that we could announce at our races? The Vaterra is quickly becoming a very popular class and a lot of us were very disappointed to hear the news of their discontinuation.
