Default RC18B2 Motor

My friend would like to know if he should get the castle Cm26 4600kv or the 6800kv for the rc18b2 and he is going to be running on 2s and possibly a 3s.
he would like a top speed of about 30 mph on a 2s.

Thanks
-Venom

I would go with the 4600. On 3s the 6800 will just overpower the car bigtime and probably run hot. A 17-18T pinion should get 30+ MPH with the 4600 on 2s, and be prepared to drop the pinion size when you increase to 3s.

My friend will be happy to hear this!

Be careful with a 18t pinion if you plan on going that big. It will heat up the motor fast. I ran a 7850kv motor with a 18t pinion and that thing was able to do at least 45+mph. But ended up burning out the motor after 10 minutes of run time.

Let me guess, it was a 20x30mm 7850Kv motor? If so you would have seen more speed and punch, and it would probably still be running if you used a 13-14T pinion rather than the 18T. For the Castle CM2646, on 2s lipo in a RC18, 18T should just get it up to normal operating temp and run there all day long without any worry of heat.

it was some $13 i got online. Yeah, thats why i mentioned to be careful when running a big pinion. Lesson learned.
