Thanks for the thumbs up Dave. I think you'll like it when they get to the shop over there.
Sorry to hear that you're disappointed. Unfortunately, the photos don't let you see everything to show that it's not just a re-hash.
The driveshafts and diff output cups have been revised and are much stronger now.
The chassis is longer to extend the wheelbase for the correct scale look and better handling. It's much smoother driving than the ST or Buggy, especially indoors on carpet. The steering was also revised slightly to correct bump steer and ackerman from the Buggy/ST.
Sorry you don't like the wheels, personal preference I guess. I styled them after wheels used on full scale race trucks.
The ESC is different than the old ESC that came with the ST and Buggy. It's the same one used now in the Rally and works well with the stock motor.
As for the price, well, you do get the new ESC, a 2.4 radio, and yes the body parts, (bumpers, mudflaps, wheels, tires) that make it look scale. I have run it with brushless power during testing also and it drives and jumps better than the previous platforms.
Using the Vendetta platform as a base also means that parts availability and support won't be an issue at the local shop or track. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Once it hits the shops I think everyone will be pleased with the truck and find it's a great new class for 1/18 racing.
I'm glad that you made tweaks to the design. They are definitely needed and long overdue. The handling tweaks are also a great touch. But it's still not a clean-sheet design like I had hoped. When it comes down to it it's still a rehased Vendetta which you pretty much admit at the end by saying "using the Vendetta platform as a base also means that parts availability and support won't be an issue...".
Besides the obvious chassis, wheels, tires, body mounts, and body, what parts would be needed to convert the ST into an SC? Will the ST suspension arms bolt to the SC chassis?
The design of the wheels and body are nice. I just don't like that cheap looking grey plastic or the paintjobs on the bodies.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of my Vendetta ST, and despite all the problems I've had with it I am, inexplicably, still a fan of Duratrax and want to see it succeed. Like I said, the DX450 looks awesome and I will definitely contemplate purchasing one. Duratrax took a gamble and stepped out into a market that really doesn't exist in the mainstream RC market and for that I give you guys props. That's the kind of stuff I'd like to see Duratrax doing more of rather than rehashing the products you have.

Besides the obvious chassis, wheels, tires, body mounts, and body, what parts would be needed to convert the ST into an SC? Will the ST suspension arms bolt to the SC chassis? The parts include:
Wheels, tires, body, body mounts, front and rear bumpers, battery strap, chassis, center drive shaft, draglink, wheel hex hubs, driveshafts, diff output cups, mudflaps, bellcranks (same as Rally) body posts, and front bumper brace. The SC uses the buggy pivot ball suspension, the ST suspension is too wide for the correct scale look. Even with the narrower buggy arms it handles great.
The design of the wheels and body are nice. I just don't like that cheap looking grey plastic or the paintjobs on the bodies. We went with the grey since chrome is too flashy and black hides the detail

Might we see a 1/10th scale 4WD SC from Duratrax?
That's a very good question........

What are ALL of the problems you had with your ST? Aside from driveshafts, the DTX vehicles are great and very durable.
As far as re-hashing old designs......yeah, AE already beat DTX to that punch with the 18T, MT, B and R.
The Detta platform is a proven design (designed by Anderson and re-tooled by DTX for their own needs) as Chris mentioned, so why should they change it?
I, for one, am thrilled at the fact that the SC chassis is longer and will therefore take SxS packs so I can build my own. If you didn't notice that right off the bat.....you need glasses.
BTW.....the SC will use suspension parts from the buggy alla PBS, not the ST.

Well said!
The chassis (LRP Shark as it is here in Europe) is a well proven basher and race winner alike!
Im stoked that there is an SC version coming out, im also happy that finally an extended chassis will be available! Admittedly it was only produced for the SC rather than cos the racers were asking for it but never the less its out!
All that political stuff aside, the SC looks the bomb. Cant wait till LRP slap their stickers on it this side of the pond
Glad you like the look. Anderson does produce the Vendetta. The updates to the chassis for the different versions, TC, Rally, SC, were done here though.

Sorry, no steel drive shafts but the plastic ones have been revised to be stronger.

All we need now is a slipper and we'll be sorted
Also a good idea....
Once parts come in stock you could take the longer chassis and bolt your ST suspension on it. Unfortunately, there isn't a body for it yet so it would be too short. Hmm......

Holy Moly Batman! A company who listens! Those good ideas (especially the slipper) would add to the Vendetta legend.
My own asking is a team >kit< of some sort. Limited production, SE, whatever.
