I'm interested in helping promote Mini Z cars in SoCal. Anyone out there in SOCal still interested in racing them?? I've found Grant Matshushima in Upland, and a friend owns Gyro Hobbies In Lake Forest--their going to have an indoor racing facility in Lake Forest on Bake Parkway very soon. They have committed to putting in a small Mini Z track IF we can gather some interest / racers!!
Who's out there that would be interested?? ANyone??
We should be able to focus on stockers first--then develop drivers class's and modified style cars as the expertise of the racers grows!! I'm thinking of starting in the HFAY style of racing--then you can compare your times nationwide / worldwide!! BIG FUN!!!
Come on---who's out there???

Yes, Count me in. I live in Newport Beach so Lake Forest would be heaven. I've been out to Grant's just once. I've been trying to get out there again. Currently, I'm up north in San Jose on a mini-vacation. I'll be checking out a couple of the Mini-Z tracks while I'm up here. I"ll be back Aug 15th. Is Grant going to have the track open that following Tuesday?

What's up all you min i-z fans, it's BIG Bruce G. Hey I've Got a HUUUGE track that I set up once a month. Grant from Matsushima's MZR has been helping me with the scoring system. Grant has also been helping me with car set ups and the do's and don'ts of mini-z. God bless ya brother.
I believe I'm setting up on Sunday the 16th at Doug Schelps auto body in Huntington Beach. If you like driving 3 tile tracks you're in luck because that's the way we do. If you have a mod car I highly recommend bringing it. Last month Doug, Garth, and myself drove the Doped out MZR ride mod style, (Yasuji special) and it was fun, fun, fun. Doug actually got mad at me because now he has to kick down cash to get a sweet ride like mine. He he, so sorry for you old man.
For more info on BGRC monthly just contact me here and I'll give you all the info.
P.S. I will definatly support Gyro hobbies in Lake Forest. (If you guys need any help with track layout or a scoring system just let me know.)
Gyro Hobbies will be happy to know we've got some local interest!! It would be VERY helpful if we can gather some racers once they get their warehouse up and running. Then maybe get a small series going with Gyro and Matshushima's track!! Get some competition going between the "Inland Empire" crew and the OC Crew!!! Then we can get the NorCal clan involved too!! Plus I know the Arizona boys would like to travel over here for some racing too!!!! Geeez--we might end up with a bunch of Mini Z racers yet!!!
Let's RACE!!!
BTW-- I could NOT log on as TIm NEja--so I used my sailplane handle here and on the Mini Z forums!!

I contacted Gyro today and they didn't know anything about a mini-z track? I never mentioned their warehouse though. I just asked if they were planning on setting one up.
????????????
Thanks.
Please let me know who to contact.

If you talk to the correct person at Gyro--Like Rob or Chris the owners--then you would know that a Mini Z track is coming--- as well as an asphalt on road and dirt offroad track indoors in a new warehouse they have rented.
What they need is our feedback into what kind of track to build. I"m recommending going with the HFAY/ OLPS style of system. That way, we can bring new drivers on and they can compare their times to the rest of the world! It's a cool system to be able to rank yourself worldwide by tracks/times and common cars!! They also plan on a "rent a car" system of use with the new 2.4 mhz LM cars that work really well as stock cars. The track I believe will be composed of the RCP system-- and there will be an elevated extension to bring a little more size and interest to the track for the newbies. Racers will be able to use the HFAY track size if they want to.
SO Bruce, there will be a track in Lake Forest soon--up on Bake Parkway. But the information is NEW--so not everyone at Gyro may know about it yet.
FYI

Hey Tim, that sounds great. I'm glad you know what's going on. I'm definatly in along with my son and 2 of his friends plus old man Schelps. Hey that makes 5 of us, man I'm good. I will support any mini-z set up they want to do.
Do you know if they will be using the Gyro-z system? Probably so.
I have found that running a 3 tile track coupled with inside radiuses is much more friendly towards new drivers, experienced it first hand. Just my opinion.
As soon as you have any more info please let me know. I will be the first one down there!!
Unfortunately, I'm coming back that Friday the 14th. I have to come back and get some work done. Happens every year, I tell my wife to schedule the vacation and when it comes up I'm jammed! Wish you well at the PNWC Norcal qualifier. I'll see you when you get back.
I don't know if you guys have time---but we're going to be out at Matshushima's Sunday afternoon with a couple of guys. Come join us and let's do some impromtu racing!! Could be fun---I've got stock and modified cars.
Let's play!!!
Tim
OK who's up for racin MINI-Z on a 3 wide? If you have a Serpant S240, mini-z mod or any other mini missal on wheels you need to bring it out and try the 3 wide. I must say "I love driving it, it is so choice" If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up............mint.
This will be a test and tune day no timing system, sorry. Trust me I will get my act together one of these days.
For more info post back or go to the Matsushima blog.
