Since you didnt mention a scale.....Im going to say mini z....
Kyosho MR02 and the Kyosho MA010 (2wd and 4wd cars)

They can be hopped up and tuned like 1/10th and 1/12 th scale cars....they carry impressive speed, handling and lap times.....not to mention they can take a beating and come back for more.....

For 1/18th scale RC18T what made it shine for me and my son is the ease to work on it (no small e clips) aftermarket support and the support from AE.......
Is it the greatest out of the box no....with some hop ups and tuning they can really perform and be made bullet proof.... I cant believe the platform will be 5 years old this Christmas....

I'm sorry, but I do not have any experience with this motor line but one....a couple years back I used one to test with in my 1/16 Kyosho buggy and only got five of six laps out of it until it smoked.......as for kv motors, I would suggest maybe anything from 2600 - 4000 if you are running in your dorm room....that should be way plenty motor for a small area.......Just need to make sure the motor bolt up pattern will work with your motor mount and the motor shaft will fit your pinions.....

Favorite Micro: Xray m18

It's what got me into RC. Ran 1/10 sedan, 1/12th, 1/10 Buggy, still my favorite.

Honorable Mentions:
- RC18T/B with exotek conversion. Without the conversion it falls out of contention.
- Xray M18T (would be above RC18T with stronger upper arms and lower parts cost)

Least favorite:
- Kyosho Mini-Inferno
- HPI MRS4
...just didn't like 'em...disliked the platform...

Default Mini LST2 with 380 Brushless

Hello Micro-Man,

I have hit a wall on this. I would like to put a Traxxas 380 BL in my Mini LST2 with a Mamba controller from a Comp X (for now). What gearing do you recommend to keep the motor cool but have decent speed? I am not looking to break any records. Just some solid, trouble-free performance. I believe the stock spur is 54T.

Also, what ESC would you recommend for future use with this motor?

I am pretty new with R/C. Thanks very much!

I would start with a 23 pinion and run it for a few minutes and then temp it....should be around 120 to 130. If that is the case you will be good to go but if it is hotter then that in only a couple of minutes then drop down to a 20 or 21 pinion......that should do it.
As for the speedo, I run the Mamba Micro Pro in all my cars and trucks without any problems to speak of......But with that motor you might have to set up the settings in the speedo to help that motor on start up power.

Thanks very much for the reply, Wesley! I will get one ordered and give it a try.
Your advise on the speedo is a little advanced for me. I am not sure how to use power curves and things like that yet. What do the Micro Pro's go for (price)? I am keeping my eye out for a 1/10 Sidewinder ESC right now. That should do the trick.

Cool QG 12th scale tires??????????

Hey Wes! How's it going way down south? Like dhamby said, we've actually been doing some racing up here with more prospects popping up all around. Hope it continues!
My question for you is: where can I get GQ 12th scale tires from? The only place I know about has dried up. Working on a little project & need some good rears.
Thanks in advance.
