I rather see a 380 can, short for most of the mini 1/18 cars and long can for the bigger cars like 1/16 Traxxas and for insane power on the small cars.
I think a motor with 28mm outside diameter are max for the smaller cars.

well the ammo,, the permax and the NEU motors are all 28mm and can be used in almost any car....

its better to have too much power than not enough....

the vendetta sufered from this until tthe right motors were found...

eventhough I dont have the vehicle,, the research I did with the vendetta can be carried over to the traxxas...

once u increase the kv the less power/torque u will have... and for a motor thats 26.5mm or so there is no telling what u will get

this is why I have said the mongoose is not ideal for the vendetta.. smooth but no power

In my opinion there is no need for a 400 size, a 380 (26mm) can is enough a long can one, app 44-45mm say 4-7kv. You will save some weight wich is nice.

The novak 380 diameter is perfect, now we need some longer more torque can

The stock motor weights in on beefy 135+grams..

I know this thread has been dead for the past year, but found it interesting and wanted to add a new twist to the request for a long block 380 BL motor.

With the established technology of advanced timing on BL motors, making a 380 motor the same length as a 540 would make for a light weight motor to replace silver can classes.

Consider this:
21.5 540 BL motor is rated 1,800kV at 85w
18.5 380 BL motor is rated 4,400kV at 82w
(both are listings from Novak site)

Assuming a higher torque 380 long block motor designed with an end bell that would allow mounting in a car designed for a 540 resulting in a higher power to weight ratio. Naturally, gearing would have to change to reflect the higher RPM 380. But overall, the weight would be reduced. I fear that in the end, it would just make for another class to dilute the existing classes.

I have to disagree with you on that. I have 3 Vendetta's. The SC,TC, and the ST. I run the mongoose in them with a 1800 2cell lipo and i have plenty of power. My SC is the best running truck right now. that thing is dialed in. right now i'm running 22 laps in a 5 min main. Could run alot more but my driving skill is still improving. I love Novak and won't run anything but mongoose systems. Their great if you know how to gear them. But I to would like to see more choices for 1/18th scale cars. So bring on the sensored motor/ esc from tekin.

I would love to see a sensored motor, on the tekin forum one of the people from tekin said that their team drivers were test some new motors...guess we will see!!!
