you want a mongoose system
or a Aon motor or a Nue motor and a BL esc Mamba, Sidewinder,Mini Rage or Mamba Pro
you are on the right track wanting a 380 sized motor.
Now you need to do some homework and figure out which will be the best for you.
The cheapest which is also a good system would be the Aon w sidewinder combo ($109) from a banner ad here at RC Tech.....I believe they have 4900 and 5400 motors
Next would be a Mongoose system
and the most expensive would be a Nue motor w a Mamba Pro......
hope this helps....

Ok so is the Castle Sidwinder kit or mamba micro pro a 380?

No, the all of the Castle motors for 18th scale are 180 size. Great for smaller cars, but they start to get overworked with the heavier models.
For more low cost options look at Hobbycity. They have several sizes to choose from, but you have to be careful to get the correct mounting and shaft size. I just ordered a 370 size brushless for my Recoil. The Mamba motors seem to work very well, but the temps do creep up on the high side after 30 minutes of runtime. I figured I dont need a whole 380 there, it might be overkill, so I went with the 370.

Do you have personal experience with it? Did you ever have thermaling problems? What kv system were you running?
See I will be running this in a mini Raminator and I want to make sure that I dont thermal since the raminator and lst2 are a little heavier than the other minis.

with the combo buy a few pinions.....

Get the mamba micro pro and the aon 4900. Its what I ran in my 1/16th scale kyosho and thats what I would have ran in my lst if they didnt have such diff problems. Watch your gearing and temps and you will be good.
