Good job I have a Mongoose laying around Looks perfect. What turn motor is it? Also, I'd move the ESC outside. Otherwise you are going to have a smoke bomb.

Yeah, I can't imagine the ESC will stay in the compartment for long, but an RS is smaller and will run a lot cooler.....probably in the box without overheating.
We'll see, I'd eventually like to cut some airholes in the chassis right there for more airflow as I have no intentions of running dual packs........but I'm worried my ride won't conform to spec rules for SCT Nats at the end of the month. For that race, the stock motor/ESC goes back i n with stock electronics. After that race, I'll break out my Frankenstein tools.

Try running a lower pinion gear, it sounds like you are over geared. Is there any indication of over heating, that would be a sure sign of over gearing.

Are you sure your cells are good?

On another note, I just ran the Goose powered slash in the road for a bit and have to say I was a bit disappointed.
I ran it good and hard for 5-7 minutes and here's what I gathered:
1) The ESC was only just slightly warm, but the motor was HOT! This kinda bummed me out as I was expecting the opposite, but whatever. I only ran it on NiMH and it was plenty fast so I can gear it down a bit more. I also ran without a heatsink.
2) The truck is a lot easier to drive. The tranny is a lot less prone to unload on the front diff as the throttle curve is a lot smoother making the truck more sure-footed.
3) I wish the spur gear cover was removeable for gear mesh!

I am going to run it myself in a few here and run it with 2 batteries and get temps on everything and time til dead,, then I will do it again with only 1 battery. I will then post everything with running it both ways!

Update on the Sensorbased installation

I mounted my Novak 13.5T motor with my TW RB-50 esc. I tried 16T pinion and went out for a small test....speed wasnt so much that i wanted, acc quit good. i run a full apck 100% full trottel + brake... app 60 celsius on the motor, ex 32

Home, installed a 19T pinion, and there i am now, see if i can test it, it feels a lot better, but the weather have change to small rain, il be back

Update number 2. I put on the 19T pinion, and the speed aint there, but the heat is coming...sad to say, but this motor may fit the slash but not the revo, not for me anyway. I wouldnt recomend it for a Revo owner that want little speed and torque . With the right pinion we have speed but we will have BBQ in no time...a longcan sensor motor would be my dream...back to the stock motor, that one delivered power enough for me.

Default Worlds Fastest 1/16th E-Revo?

Got a stock revo last week. Out of the box stock we got 29.9mph on radar gun. We did a few upgrades, with a Hacker Brushless motor and Thunder Power 1350mAh 3S lipos. To handle this large load we put on a Quark 80 ESC.
Here are the pictures.

We used the stock tires/wheels with the top speed of 64MPH as shown on the radar gun.

We are hoping to get to 70+ mph but I think better tires are neccessary.

Any ideas on tires/wheels?

Anyone know of any FASTER 1/16th E-revos?

not an e-revo but the fastest 1/18th scale (RC18T) is 74mph.....
Tony Phalen did it at a World championship event using a calibrated
speed trap....

PM Over Revo he is cool and has been doing so cool things with the 1/10 revo ( just check his sig) and the mini!!!

I would suggest different wheels and tires and the nue motor
but you can get more speed out of it in stock form....just be sure you can keep the front end down!!!

Castle broke 100mph with a Mini T a few years back.

70 is possible, go for a higher gearing and foam tyres.
