My friend just bought the 8K version and it has a larger (280mm) can. Did a small test in his living room and seems pretty good especially for the price. We'll find out how it stacks up, tonight, when I race my 8K Mamba against it.

Since my friend with the Reedy 8K wasn't pushing his car too hard, I asked if I could try driving it. I was very impressed with especially considering that it only was $90 for the combo. Although, one disadvantage it has is just that it can't run brushed motors. Not really a big deal!
It drove extremely smooth with very good throttle response. Compared to our other friend's Mongoose 10.5, I'd say it was close enough especially when considering the price difference. I actually preferred it over my Mamba 25 w/ 8K. Although, I haven't really made any adjustments to my Mamba. Upon looking at the instructions, I found out that the Reedy setup has a lot of tuning options and some seemed a little better than my Mamba. Keep in mind that I really love Castle Creations and their customer service so for me to say these good things about the Reedy combo says a lot.
On a side note...another of our friends had an interesting setup. He is running a Hobbywing 35A brushless controller for 1/10th cars with a Hacker 4300 motor. I was just amazed at how darn good this setup was, too. I like this setup over my Mamba as well, but the Reedy combo still felt a tad more responsive and smoother.
Our track is a medium sized track so majority of the time, you can't really see the differences between even the stock motor against these brushless setups. For the most part, there is only a marginal difference on our track. I am aware that on a larger track, the differences are night and day.
